On the workspace of telescopic manipulators
Robotica, 1998An analytical procedure is proposed for determining the workspace boundary of general telescopic manipulators. The algorithm has been developed by using the Theory of Envelopes providing an algebraic formulation. An analysis of the workspace of telescopic chain has been carried out to emphasize on a general topology and to investigate the effect of ...

Design and implementation of a shared workspace by integrating individual workspaces
ACM SIGOIS Bulletin, 1990This paper proposes “TeamWorkStation” (TWS) as an approach to an effective shared workspace for the support of remote collaboration. There are three key design objectives in TWS: integration of virtual and actual workspaces, a simultaneously-accessible shared drawing surface, and smooth transition between individual workspaces and shared workspace.

Many tools create new user interfaces by compositing them out of smaller pieces. This usually leads to variations on the dialog box to edit a single composite object. Workspaces are a model for compositing together various editors to manipulate sets of objects and their attributes. The workspace components communicate in terms of a selected set and the

The objective of I2Cnet (Image Indexing by Content network) is to provide network-transparent content-based access to medical image archives as an Internet/intranet value-added service. Through a typical web browser, healthcare professionals interact with image collections, browse images similar to a query image, compare these images to images from ...

IEEE Virtual Reality Conference 2005 (VR'05), 2005
Current virtual workspaces such as window managers and virtual environments impose unnecessary constraints on both users and developers. This research focusses on the development of a flexible 3D workspace environment that runs on commodity hardware but scales to more sophisticated systems.

Creating an informative workspace
Companion to the 21st ACM SIGPLAN symposium on Object-oriented programming systems, languages, and applications, 2006Informative Workspace is one of the new practices launched in the second edition of "Extreme Programming Explained" [1]. To follow this practice, an agile team builds feedback mechanisms around them that support them in their daily work. These feedback mechanisms can take the form of visual displays, Information Radiators [2], which are manually ...

Analysis of virtual workspaces
Proceedings 1999 International Symposium on Database Applications in Non-Traditional Environments (DANTE'99) (Cat. No.PR00496), 2003While traditional workflow management systems have proven useful in supporting well-defined organizational processes, they are less suitable for the support of less well-defined emergent processes. These kinds of processes are better supported by systems which are based on the notion of workspaces.

On the Workspace of General 4R Manipulators
The International Journal of Robotics Research, 1995The workspace of a general 4R manipulator is analyzed by examining its cross-section evaluation to investigate its main characteristics and how they are affected by link parameters. An algebraic formulation is deduced for a workspace boundary of a general 4R manipulator from the geometry of an enve lope generation.

Social networking promises individuals new dimensions of freedom to interact, associate, and give expression to their talents. Recently, systems such as Mechanical Turk have started to facilitate self-organizing collaboration on work-related tasks. Such developments raise interesting questions.
