A 53 GHz DCO for mm-wave WPAN

2008 IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference, 2008
A digitally-controlled oscillator (DCO) for mm-wave wireless applications is demonstrated for the first time. Low phase noise is achieved adopting an efficient complementary topology and optimizing the programmable-capacitor array. A fine frequency resolution of 1.8 MHz is obtained using switched metal-oxide-metal capacitors while coarse frequency ...

BER Regression Analysis of DS-UWB Based WPAN

2007 IEEE 65th Vehicular Technology Conference - VTC2007-Spring, 2007
Ultra-wideband (UWB) radio is a viable candidate for short-range multiple access communications in dense multipath environments. This paper analyzes the efficiency of direct sequence - UWB physical layer standard proposal in a indoor environment with fixed transmitters and receiver positions.

Rate-Scalable UWB for WPAN with Heterogeneous Nodes

Proceedings. (ICASSP '05). IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005., 2006
The desire for untethered communications spurs increasing interests in wireless sensor networks (WSN) and multimedia communications, including wireless personal area networks (WPAN) with variable rates over a short range. Emerging as a promising candidate for these applications, ultra-wideband (UWB) is gaining increasing attention.

WPAN scheme for Bluetooth devices: a review

4th National Conference of Telecommunication Technology, 2003. NCTT 2003 Proceedings., 2003
The use of Bluetooth (BT) devices is on increase. The conventional LAN techniques for networking do not suit the BT environment. We discuss the suitability of the wireless personal area network (WPAN) for BT devices. At the present time, users are surrounded by numerous portable devices, such as personal digital assistants (PDA), personal computers ...

An UWB Transceiver for IEEE 802.15.4a WPAN

2008 38th European Microwave Conference, 2008
A Nyquist sampling receiver architecture is proposed for the IEEE 802.15.4a wireless personal area network (WPAN) standard. This architecture allows for signal duty cycling between the pulse bursts, which reduces the average power consumption of the receiver. Two receiver implementations are described with their own pros and cons.

Enhancements on the Loss of Beacon Frames in LR-WPANs

2013
In beacon-enabled LR-WPANs, the high reliability of beacon frame transmission is required because all transmissions are controlled by the information in the beacon frame. However, the process for the beacon-loss scenario is not carefully considered in the standard.

A Clustering based Hybrid Mobility in WPAN

2019 International Conference on Innovative Computing (ICIC), 2019
IEEE 802.15.4 is a standard for low rate wireless personal area network (i.e. LR-WPANs) and ZigBee based wireless sensor networks (WSNs). This research presents an analysis of clustering based hybrid mobility in IEEE 802.15.4 PAN. This paper unfolds: (1) performance analysis of IEEE 802.15.4 from little to expansive scale PAN; (2) utilization of ...

Specifications and evaluation of a MAC protocol for a LP-WPAN

Ad Hoc Sens. Wirel. Networks, 2009
Industrials have been increasingly interested in wireless sensor and actuator networks to monitor and control installations. The recent IEEE 802.15.4 standard has been developed to address vital issues of these networks, such as limited battery power and low processing capabilities. However, the standard does not meet all the requirements of industrial
