Scatternet Formation for IEEE 802.15.3 WPANs
IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, 2006In this paper, we consider the unique properties of the scatternet formation problem for IEEE 802.15.3 wireless personal area networks and formulate it as a set covering problem. We propose a fully distributed stochastic scatternet formation algorithm and compare its performance against a greedy algorithm and idealized best/worst case scenarios.

Enabling multi-hop on mmWave WPANs
2008 IEEE International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems, 2008The booming multimedia applications are demanding multi-hop communications in high data rate millimeter wave radio WPANs (Wireless Personal Area Networks). However, unable to make use of space reuse, the IEEE 802.15.3 dependent piconet scheme shows its limit when the number of inter-connected piconet grows.

Efficient Resource Management for mmWave WPANs
2007 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2007IEEE 802.15.3c has recently been formed for developing a millimeter-wave (mmWave)-based alternative physical layer (PHY) for the existing 802.15.3 wireless personal area network (WPAN) standard, using the unlicensed 57-64 GHz band. However, the existing resource management schemes are inherently inefficient and insufficient for mmWave-based WPANs ...

Optimal Transmitter Design for WPAN
2009 IEEE Circuits and Systems International Conference on Testing and Diagnosis, 2009In this paper, we evaluate the communication quality, energy consumption and bandwidth of different transmitters with different modulation schemes. The performance in wireless personal area network (WPAN) is evaluated. Simulation results demonstrate that for WPAN communication, the transmitter with high modulation level PSK and a linear class A power ...

Mininet-WPAN: Enabling WPAN and IoT Emulations with 802.15.4 Support
Anais Estendidos do XLIII Simpósio Brasileiro de Redes de Computadores e Sistemas DistribuĆdos (SBRC 2025)The rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) has created a significant demand for reliable and scalable emulation platforms capable of supporting low-power, wireless networks. In this context, IEEE 802.15.4 has emerged as a key protocol for enabling Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) in IoT applications.

Piconet security in IEEE 802.15.3 WPAN
IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2005, 2005IEEE 802.15.3 is designed for short-distance wireless connectivity within a wireless personal area network (WPAN). It has great significance for applications such as home networking. Security is one of the fundamental issues in IEEE 802.15.3 WPAN. Although several security mechanisms have been defined in the standard, there are many others open and ...

On frame-based scheduling for directional mmWave WPANs
2012 Proceedings IEEE INFOCOM, 2012Millimeter wave (mmWave) communications in the 60 GHz band can provide multi-gigabit rates for emerging bandwidth-intensive applications, and has thus gained considerable interest recently. In this paper, we investigate the problem of efficient scheduling in mmWave wireless personal area networks (WPAN).

Timing synchronization for IEEE 802.15.3 WPAN applications
IEEE Communications Letters, 2005This letter derives and computes the detection probability of timing synchronization in a wireless personal area network (WPAN) system encountered with a multipath Rayleigh fading channel. The timing synchronization scheme using CAZAC training symbols and correlation techniques is adopted.

WLAN and WPAN coexistence in UL band
IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2001Wireless local- and personal-area networks provide complimentary services in the same unlicensed (UL) radio frequency band of operation. As the mutual benefits of utilizing these services become increasingly apparent, the likelihood of mutual interference may also increase.
