ABSTRACT The common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) is a resident species along the Portuguese mainland coast, yet knowledge of its stranding patterns and feeding ecology is scarce. This study presents a comprehensive assessment of strandings (n = 264, from 1980 to 2019) and feeding ecology based on stomach content analysis (n = 43 from 1997 to

An all‐dielectric asymmetric gammadion metasurface exhibits visible circular dichroism governed by helicity‐selective multipolar excitations. Quadrupole‐dominated and weaker mixed‐mode resonances are identified, and their distinct near‐field optical chirality and angular responses are revealed, establishing a direct link between structural asymmetry ...

ABSTRACT Instrumental characterisation of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs), responsible for off‐aroma, is mainly centred on gas chromatography‐based techniques. Despite previous reviews that have addressed the chemical compounds and biosynthetic pathways of off‐aroma generation, to date, there is a lack of a comprehensive review that critically ...

Abstract Kirganelia (Phyllanthaceae) is a palaeotropical genus recently reinstated as separate from Phyllanthus, yet species boundaries remain unclear, especially within the widespread and morphologically variable K. reticulata complex. To resolve this, we generated Angiosperms353‐based phylogenomic data from 233 samples and applied an integrative ...

WPC industry focuses on performance and cost
The market for wood- and natural fibre-filled composites (WPC) is growing, as is competition. Companies operating in this industry are focusing on materials and manufacturing improvements to gain an advantage. Amanda Jacob reviews the findings of two recent studies.

The use of wood-plastic composites, WPC, in commercial products is today limited. Current WPC products on the market are to a large extent limited to extruded products. There are strong reasons to increase the use of WPC. WPC can be manufactured from used plastic that otherwise cannot be recycled.

RECYCLING POSSIBILITIES OF WOOD-PLASTIC COMPOSITES (WPC)
Nowadays, the main goal is to minimize the negative impact of a product or service on the environment. Wood-plastic composites (WPC) can be produced in a sustainable way, with minimal waste. WPC composites can be produced from natural raw materials. They can also be produced as a result of recycling, where either wood or plastic come from the recyclate.
