The writhe of permutations and random framed knots [PDF]

open access: yesRandom Structures & Algorithms, 2016
We introduce and study the writhe of a permutation, a circular variant of the well-known inversion number. This simple permutation statistics has several interpretations, which lead to some interesting properties. For a permutation sampled uniformly at random, we study the asymptotics of the writhe, and obtain a non-Gaussian limit distribution.

Machine learning approaches in automated infant General Movements Assessment: A scoping review

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
Automated infant General Movements Assessment increasingly uses machine‐ and deep‐learning approaches to classify movement patterns and estimate cerebral palsy risk from video or sensor data. This scoping review highlights how dataset characteristics, recording environment, pose‐estimation accuracy, feature extraction, and model design influence system

General Movement Assessment in infancy and later cognitive outcomes: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
Aim To evaluate whether the General Movement Assessment (GMA) in infancy is associated with later cognitive outcomes from early childhood through adulthood. Method Cohort and case–control studies examining associations between Prechtl's GMA and cognitive outcomes from 6 months of age were eligible.

Optimal timing of the General Movement Assessment for early detection of cerebral palsy

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim To identify trajectories of normal fidgety movements between 10 weeks and 20 weeks corrected age and determine the optimal timing of the General Movement Assessment (GMA) to improve early cerebral palsy detection. Method In this prospective multicenter cohort study, parents submitted up to six serial home videos (median five per infant ...
