A History of X-ray absorption fine structure
Annales de Physique, 1989This historical account of X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy from the origin to 1975 begins with the first observations of X-ray absorption edges and the experimental setups used at the turn of the century. Then, the discovery of XAFS and Kossel's early interpretation are discussed.

X-Ray Spectrometry, 2021
We present a method to explore the effect of fluorescence on X‐ray attenuation measurements obtained from X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). We use the X‐ray extended range technique‐like method (XERT‐like). The experimental setup includes different sized apertures to control the number of secondary X‐rays entering the detector.

X-ray absorption fine structure and nanostructures
International Journal of Nanotechnology, 2006The X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) is a powerful tool to investigate local atomic structures in matter. The XAFS can select a specific type of atom as a probe atom and measure the structural environments near the probe atom. The XAFS can therefore describe the bond lengths, bond-length distributions and the species of the atoms located around ...

Photoconduction extended x-ray-absorption fine structure of GaAs
Physical Review B, 1994Photoconduction spectra of GaAs samples at photon energies around the Ga and As K edges were measured. Extended x-ray-absorption fine-structure oscillation was observed in these spectra. It is found that the spectrum shape of the photocurrent depends on the sample thickness. A microscopic theory is presented to determine the photoconduction response to

Comment on "X-ray-absorption fine structure in embedded atoms"
Physical Review B, 1996We illustrate that the possible existence of an oscillatory atomic x-ray-absorption background (AXAFS) as reported by Rehr et al. [Phys. Rev. B 49, 12 347 (1994)] is so far not proven.

X-ray absorption fine structure of artificial antigens for cadmium
Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2011Immunoassay technology as a quick and large-scale screening method to detect metal ions in foods and environmental samples has rapidly been developed due to several advantages over conventional instrument-intensive methods. Unlike biomacromolecule, metal ions are haptens without immunogenicity, so successful preparation of artificial antigens is the ...

X-ray Absorption Fine Structure in Glass
1963When considering such things as electronic behavior or structure-dependent phenomena in solids (including glass), one is faced with the problem of finding ways to make measurements which yield information about events and mechanisms on a microscopic or atomic scale.

Radial distribution function in x-ray-absorption fine structure
Physical Review B, 1992It has been argued that, in systems that have disorder too large to be described by a Gaussian, x-ray-absorption fine-structure (XAFS) spectroscopy alone cannot define the radial distribution function (RDF) because of the lack of low-k data. We show that the low-k data can, under certain conditions, be reconstructed using cumulant expansions, which ...

Inelastic processes in extended x-ray-absorption fine structure
Physical Review B, 1988Inelastic processes in extended x-ray-absorption fine structure (EXAFS) are studied using an extension of the semiclassical model of dynamical screening of a core hole and a photoelectron. This treatment effectively includes both extrinsic and intrinsic inelastic losses, as well as interference between them.

Extended x-ray-absorption fine structure of liquid water
Physical Review B, 1987Extended x-ray-absorption fine structure (EXAFS) of liquid water above the oxygen K edge is reported for the first time. Major features of the EXAFS spectrum agree with the calculated spectrum based on the known O-O pair correlation function in water.
