X‐ray Stain Localization with Near‐Field Ptychographic Computed Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
Although X‐ray contrast agents offer specific characteristics in terms of targeting and attenuation, their accumulation in the tissue on a cellular level is usually not known and difficult to access, as it requires high resolution and sensitivity.

Overcoming the fragility – X-ray computed micro-tomography elucidates brachiopod endoskeletons [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Zoology, 2014
The calcareous shells of brachiopods offer a wealth of informative characters for taxonomic and phylogenetic investigations. In particular scanning electron microscopy (SEM) has been used for decades to visualise internal structures of the shell. However, to produce informative SEM data, brachiopod shells need to be opened after chemical removal of the

X-ray fluorescence micro-tomography and laminography using an x-ray scanning microscope

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2009
Using a scanning microscope with a zone plate, x-ray fluorescence micro-tomography was investigated at SPring-8 BL20XU. A 120 nm-thick zinc layer could be resolved in the reconstructed section image. A frozen phytoplankton and a iron impurity of a diamond could be also reconstructed. X-ray fluorescence laminography was tested at SPring-8 BL47XU.

Fast Projection Matching for X-ray Tomography

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
X-ray 3D tomographic techniques are powerful tools for investigating the morphology and internal structures of specimens. A common strategy for obtaining 3D tomography is to capture a series of 2D projections from different X-ray illumination angles of ...

Evaluation of Collateral Source Characteristics With 3‐Dimensional Analysis Using Micro–X‐Ray Computed Tomography

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2018
BackgroundCollateral arteries provide an alternative blood supply and protect tissues from ischemic damage in patients with peripheral artery disease. However, the mechanism of collateral artery development is difficult to validate.

Assessment of wood microstructural changes after one-stage thermo-hydro treatment (THT) by micro X-ray computed tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The microstructural changes in a selection of softwoods and hardwoods resulting from thermo-hydro treatment (THT) at 160°C were examined by means of a state-of-the-art micro X-ray computed tomography.

Terahertz Computed Tomography of NASA Thermal Protection System Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A terahertz axial computed tomography system has been developed that uses time domain measurements in order to form cross-sectional image slices and three-dimensional volume renderings of terahertz-transparent materials. The system can inspect samples as

X-ray Micro-CT based characterization of rock cuttings with deep learning

open access: yesApplied Computing and Geosciences
Rock cuttings from destructive boreholes are a common and cheaper source of drilling materials that can be used to determine underground geology compared to rock core samples.
