GRBs and Lobster Eye X-Ray Telescopes [PDF]

open access: yesEAS Publications Series, 2013
A large majority of GRBs exhibit X-ray emission. In addition, a dedicated separate group of GRB, the XRFs, exists which emission dominates in the X-ray spectral range. And the third group of GRB related objects (yet hypothetical) are the group of off-axis observed GRBs (orphan afterglows).

The Czech Contribution to Future Large X-Ray Astronomy Telescopes: Recent Progress

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2013
We briefly review the recent status of the Czech contribution to future space X-ray astronomy missions with emphasis on the development of new technologies and test samples of X-ray mirrors with precise surfaces based on new materials and alternative ...

Optimization of grazing incidence mirrors and its application to surveying X-ray telescopes

open access: yes, 2001
Grazing incidence mirrors for X-ray astronomy are usually designed in the parabola-hyperbola (Wolter I) configuration. This design allows for optimal images on-axis, which however degrade rapidly with the off-axis angle.

Lobster Eye (LE) X-Ray Optics Demonstrator for CubeSats Applications

open access: yesPhotonics
We present a Lobster Eye (LE) X-ray optics module utilizing Multi-Foil Optics (MFO) technology. Designed for CubeSat-class missions, the system is based on the Schmidt arrangement and consists of two orthogonally oriented submodules composed of smooth ...

Selective vignetting of Type 1 X-ray telescopes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Selective vignetting technique optimizes the performance of a Type 1 X-ray telescope. The image quality of the telescope system is improved by matching the detector to the optimum focal surface and by vignetting rays which formerly contributed to the ...

The Luminosity Phase Space of Galactic and Extragalactic X-Ray Transients Out to Intermediate Redshifts

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We present a detailed compilation and analysis of the X-ray phase space of low- to intermediate-redshift (0 ≤ z ≤ 1) transients that consolidates observed light curves (and theory where necessary) for a large variety of classes of transient/variable ...
