Ultrahigh-Resolution X-ray Tomography

Science, 1994
Ultrahigh-resolution three-dimensional images of a microscopic test object were made with soft x-rays collected with a scanning transmission x-ray microscope. The test object consisted of two different patterns of gold bars on silicon nitride windows that were separated by ∼5 micrometers.

X-ray computed tomography

Electronics and Power, 1978
X-ray computed tomography, derived from the Greek meaning 'to write a slice or section', has been commercially available from 1972, after its invention and development by G.N. Hounsfield at the central research laboratories of EMI in 1967. Since then, its impact on the medical world has been as great as the discovery of X-rays itself, and despite the ...

Dynamic X-ray computed tomography

Proceedings of the IEEE, 2003
Dynamic computed tomography (CT) imaging aims at reconstructing image sequences where the dynamic nature of the living human body is of primary interest. The main applications concerned are image-guided interventional procedures, functional studies and cardiac imaging.

Dose in x-ray computed tomography

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2014
Radiation dose in x-ray computed tomography (CT) has become a topic of high interest due to the increasing numbers of CT examinations performed worldwide. This review aims to present an overview of current concepts for both scanner output metrics and for patient dosimetry and will comment on their strengths and weaknesses.

X-ray Tomography

2008
We give a survey on the mathematics of computerized tomography. We start with a short introduction to integral geometry, concentrating on inversion formulas, stability, and ranges. We then go over to inversion algorithms. We give a detailed analysis of the filtered backprojection algorithm in the light of the sampling theorem.

X-Ray Computerized Tomography

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1987
Distinguished Author Series articles are general, descriptiverepresentations that summarize the state of the art in an area of technology bydescribing recent developments for readers who are not specialists in thetopics discussed. Written by individuals recognized as experts in the area, these articles provide key references to more definitive work and

X-Ray Tomography

2019
Doga Gursoy contributed to this chapter. Up until now we have concentrated on two-dimensional (2D) imaging of thin specimens. However, one of the advantages microscopy with X rays offers is great penetrating power. This means that X rays can image much thicker specimens than is possible in, for example, electron microscopy (as discussed in Section 4 ...

The use of resonance effect in X-ray tomography

Doklady Mathematics, 2008
The author applies a mathematical model of photon migration, which is described by a stationary transfer integro-differential equation. The value of the damping coefficient is found by virtue of an inverse transform followed an analysis of rather simple compounds of a complex mathematical presentation. The approach is based upon external resonance type

X-Ray and Computed Tomography

2017
This chapter provides an overview of the use of x-ray and computed tomography (CT)-based imaging for brachytherapy. Treatment planning in brachytherapy requires accurate imaging of both the implanted materials and the surrounding anatomy. Ultrasound (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which can provide excellent soft-tissue contrast for ...
