High-speed X-ray ptychographic tomography

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
X-ray ptychography is a coherent scanning imaging technique widely used at synchrotron facilities for producing quantitative phase images beyond the resolution limit of conventional x-ray optics.

Strategies for efficient scanning and reconstruction methods on very large objects with high-energy x-ray computed tomography

open access: yes, 2022
Art. 921209, 9 S.X-ray computed tomography (CT) is an established tool for industrial non-destructive testing purposes. Yet conventional CT devices pose limitations regarding specimen dimensions and material thicknesses.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Registration and tracking to integrate X-ray and MR images in an XMR facility

open access: yes, 2003
We describe a registration and tracking technique to integrate cardiac X-ray images and cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) images acquired from a combined X-ray and MR interventional suite (XMR).

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

X‐ray Stain Localization with Near‐Field Ptychographic Computed Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
Although X‐ray contrast agents offer specific characteristics in terms of targeting and attenuation, their accumulation in the tissue on a cellular level is usually not known and difficult to access, as it requires high resolution and sensitivity.

An x-ray tomography facility for quantitative prediction of mechanical and transport properties in geological, biological, and synthetic systems

open access: yes, 2004
A fully integrated X-ray tomography facility with the ability to generate tomograms with 20483 voxels at 2 micron spatial resolution was built to satisfy the requirements of a virtual materials testing laboratory.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

MicroCT reveals domesticated rice (Oryza sativa) within pottery sherds from early Neolithic sites (4150–3265 cal BP) in Southeast Asia

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Rice (Oryza sativa) was domesticated in the Yangtze Valley region at least 6000–8000 years ago, yet the timing of dispersal of domesticated rice to Southeast Asia is contentious.

X-ray computed tomography data structure tensor orientation mapping for finite element models - STXAE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Accurate modelling of fibre-reinforced composites requires anisotropic material models. Structure tensor analysis of X-ray 3D images has been shown to provide fast and robust estimation of local structural orientations in fibre-reinforced composites.
