EBSD Study on Transverse Tensile X80 Grade Pipeline Steel

2010 8th International Pipeline Conference, Volume 2, 2010
Transverse tension testing was carried out on an X80 grade linepipe to investigate the deformation behavior and the evolution of microstructure by means of SEM-EBSD (Electron Backscattered Diffraction) technique. Test results show that uniform elongation could achieve up to 7% in transverse tension for an X80 linepipe.

Microstructure - Texture Related Toughness Anisotropy of API-X80 Pipeline Steel

Advanced Materials Research, 2006
The dependence of Charpy toughness on the microstructure and texture of two industrial grades of API –X80 pipeline steel with a thickness of 15 and 17 mm, respectively, were studied in this work. Standard size Charpy samples with a long axis orientated at 0, 22.5, 45, 67.5 and 90° with respect to the rolling direction of the plate were tested at ...

Effect of Inclusion on Pitting Corrosion of X80 Pipeline Steel

Advanced Materials Research, 2015
The influence of inclusion on pitting corrosion of X80 pipeline steel was investigated by using electrochemical test and atomic force microscope. The results indicated that corrosion potential of X80 pipeline steel sample with higher grade inclusion was lower, and decreased significantly with chloride ion concentration increasing.

New Development of High Grade X80 to X120 Pipeline Steels

Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2011
An overview of the manufacturing technology for high-strength pipeline steels was introduced. The microstructure and mechanical properties of X80, X100, and X120 grade steel plates and pipes were analyzed and discussed. Through the UOE simulator, the changes of mechanical properties after pipe-forming from plate to pipe were evaluated.

THE SOFTENING BEHAVIOR OF HIGHER NIOUBIUM CONTENT X80 PIPELINE STEEL

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2009
In this paper, the softening behavior of higher Nb content X80 pipeline steel was investigated by means of the stress relaxation curve. Deformed above 1050°C, the softening of the steel is fast and controlled by static recrystallization. Although the softening at 1000°C is slower obviously, it was also controlled by static recrystallization, no more ...

Microstructure and Deformation Characteristics of X80 High Deformability Pipeline Steel

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
Two kinds of X80 high deformability pipeline steels have been processed by applying two-stage cooling process (TSC) and heat treatment on-line process (HOP). The microstructure of TSC steel and HOP steel are polygonal ferrite (PF) + quasi-polygonal ferrite (QF) + granular bainite (GB) multiphase and QF + GB+ martensite-austenite (M/A) multiphase ...

Evolution of MnS inclusions in Ti-bearing X80 pipeline steel

Journal of Iron and Steel Research International, 2017
Studies show that manganese sulfide (MnS) inclusions in pipeline steel affect the lateral performance of steel in its rolling deformation, as well as the hydrogen-induced cracking and sulfide stress corrosion cracking resistance performance. To inhibit the precipitation of MnS and its effect on pipeline steel, a quenching experiment and a diffusion ...

FATIGUE CRACK GROWTH BEHAVIOR FOR WELDED JOINT OF X80 PIPELINE STEEL

Advanced Nondestructive Evaluation II, 2008
The fatigue crack growth behavior of high strength X80 pipeline steel was investigated with compact tension specimens that crack growth directions were aligned either parallel or normal to the rolling direction of the pipeline. Also, the fatigue crack growth rates for welded joint of X80 pipeline steel were investigated with compact tension specimens ...
