Decoupling the metal insulator transition and crystal field effects of VO2

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
VO2 is a highly correlated electron system which has a metal-to-insulator transition (MIT) with a dramatic change of conductivity accompanied by a first-order structural phase transition (SPT) near room temperature.

XAFS in the high-energy region

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 1998
XAFS (X-ray absorption fine-structure) spectra were measured near K-absorption edges of Ce (40.5 keV), Dy (53.8 keV), Ta (67.4 keV) and Pt (78.4 keV). The blunt K-edge jump due to the finite lifetime of the core hole was observed. This makes it difficult to extract EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine-structure) functions at low k values.

Balancing Electrons to Break the Activity‐Selectivity Trade‐Off in H2O2 Electrosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Carrier‐concentration balancing in CuS is achieved by coupling cobalt dopants with cobalt vacancies, converting CuS from p‐ to n‐type to accelerate 2e− ORR while withdrawing excess carriers to optimize *OOH binding for H2O2 desorption. The catalyst reaches 8.14 mol g−1 h−1 with >84% selectivity in 1.0 M KOH and drives robust electro‐Fenton dye ...

Investigation of Manganese(II) Behavior in Molten Chlorides at Precipitate Formation by Oxide Addition

open access: yesElectrochemistry
In the pyro-reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel, salt bath is normally used in several times, but at final moment, spent salt containing small amount of chloride nuclear fuel material is generated.

Signature of an antiferromagnetic metallic ground state in heavily electron doped Sr2FeMoO6

open access: yes, 2012
Sr$_{2}$FeMoO$_6$ is a double perovskite compound, known for its high temperature behavior. Combining different magnetic and spectroscopic tools, we show that this compound can be driven to rare example of antiferromagnetic metallic state through heavy ...

XAFS investigations of tin nitrides

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 2001
Tin nitrides (Sn3N4) prepared by the reaction of Sn-halides with KNH2 in liquid ammonia and a subsequent vacuum annealing procedure were investigated with transmission mode XAFS experiments. While the near edge data suggest the presence of a univalent Sn-compound with a valency close to +4, the analysis of the extended X-ray absorption fine structure ...

Dual‐Salt Carbothermal Shock Strategy Enabling Ultrafast and Sustainable Regeneration of Spent LiFePO4 Cathode Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) accounts for over 50% of the global cathode market, underscoring the need for efficient recycling and regeneration. We propose a dual‐salt carbothermal shock (CTS) strategy using LiI and NaI to in situ repair Li vacancies.

Generating Mechanism of Catalytic Effect for Hydrogen Absorption/Desorption Reactions in NaAlH4–TiCl3

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The hydrogen desorption and absorption reactions of the complex metal hydride NaAlH4 are disproportionation processes, and the kinetics can be improved by adding a few mol% of Ti compounds, although the catalytic mechanism, including the location and ...

XAFS in a single macrophage cell

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 2001
In this paper, a novel approach using XAFS will be introduced for the study of the problem of cytotoxicity to metal ions. A micro beam from a SR source was used to measure the time-dependent distributions and chemical states of elements in mouse microphages that were cultured in metallic solutions of different concentration.

Tuning Amorphous‐Crystalline Catalytic Interfaces by Mechanochemistry: Cu‐Based Metallic Glasses Coupled with Ceria for CO Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ball‐milling Cu‐based metallic glasses with ceria creates a unique nanostructure where metallic glass particles are wrapped by CeO2 nanoparticles. The intimate integration triggers copper state reorganization during reaction and aging, boosting CO oxidation and COPrOx activity.
