Purification and characterization of allergens from Xanthium strumarium pollen

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 1987
The allergenic components present in whole pollen extract of Xanthium strumarium were isolated by sequential ammonium sulphate precipitation, DEAE Sephadex A50 chromatography and gel filtration. The techniques of RAST inhibition and skin test were utilized to check the allergenicity of fractionated proteins revealing the presence of Xan Ib and Xan VIa ...

THE POLYAMINES OF Xanthium strumarium and THEIR RESPONSE TO PHOTOPERIOD

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1990
Abstract— Flowering plants of Xanthium strumarium L., grown in 8 h photoperiods, were analysed for polyamines. Putrescine, spermidine and spermine were found throughout the plant in three forms: (a) as free polyamines; (b) conjugates soluble in 5% trichloracetic acid (TCA); and (c) bound to the TCA‐insoluble precipitate.
