Genomic-associated Markers and comparative Genome Maps of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and X. oryzae pv. oryzicola

World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2015
Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) and X. oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc) cause two major seed quarantine diseases in rice, bacterial blight and bacterial leaf streak, respectively. Xoo and Xoc share high similarity in genomic sequence, which results in hard differentiation of the two pathogens.

Ethylicin Inhibition of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola In Vitro and In Vivo

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2023
Infestation of rice with the bacterium Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc) causes the serious disease bacterial leaf streak (BLS). We studied the effect of ethylicin, a broad-spectrum bactericide, on Xoc both in vivo and in vitro. Ethylicin increases the defensive enzyme activities and defensive genes expression of rice. Ethylicin also significantly

EcpA, an extracellular protease, is a specific virulence factor required by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola but not by X. oryzae pv. oryzae in rice

Microbiology, 2012
Previously, 12 protease-deficient mutants of the Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc) RS105 strain were recovered from a Tn5-tagged mutant library. In the current study, the Tn5 insertion site in each mutant was mapped. Mutations in genes encoding components of the type II secretion apparatus, cAMP regulatory protein, integral membrane protease ...

A molecular mechanism of resistance to streptomycin in Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola

Phytoparasitica, 2011
Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola, the causal agent of rice leaf streak disease, was found to be sensitive to streptomycin (an aminocyclitol glycoside antibiotic), by inhibition of protein synthesis resulting from interference with translational proofreading. This study aimed to determine the molecular resistance mechanism of X. oryzae pv.

Specificity of Multiplex PCR in the Detection of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Seeds

Journal of the Korean Society of International Agricultue, 2014
One of the major hurdles faced by numerous quarantine centers is to accurately detect and distinguish non-plant pathogenic bacteria from plant pathogenic bacteria based on colony morphology. Yellow colony-forming, non-plant pathogenic bacteria found in rice seeds are often misidentified as Xanthomonas oryzae pv.

Novel insights into the regulatory roles of gene hshB in Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola

Research in Microbiology, 2017
Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola causes leaf streak disease of rice. The gene hshB is a newly identified virulence-associated gene that is co-regulated by diffusible signal factor signaling and global regulator Clp in X. oryzae pv. oryzicola. Our previous study showed that mutation of hshB remarkably impaired the virulence, extracellular protease ...

[Detection and identification of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola by real-time fluorescent PCR].

Wei sheng wu xue bao = Acta microbiologica Sinica, 2009
A novel and sensitive real time PCR was developed to detection Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola, which cause the bacteria leaf blight (BLB) and leaf streak respectively, Universal and specific TaqMan probes, which were designed based on the sequence of Putative siderophore receptor gene cds were used to detect 13 ...

Proteomic analysis of the regulatory function of DSF-dependent quorum sensing in Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola

Microbial Pathogenesis, 2011
Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc), which caused bacterial leaf streak in rice, is a bacterial pathogen limited to the apoplast of the mesophyll tissue. The rpfF that encodes diffusible signal factor (DSF) synthase, played a key role in the virulence of many plant pathogenic bacteria. In this study, the rpf gene cluster was cloned, and the rpfF was

[Identification of extracellular polysaccharide-associated genes in Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola].

Wei sheng wu xue bao = Acta microbiologica Sinica, 2012
Previously, seventeen extracellular polysaccharide-associated mutants of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc) were acquired from our randomly Tn5-inserted mutant library. To know the Tn5-inserted genes of these mutants and their contribution to EPS production and virulence in rice,in this study, we first identified and characterized the Tn5-targeted ...
