Modulated electrochemical force microscopy: Investigation of sodium‐ion transport at hard carbon composite anodes

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract For sodium (Na)‐ion batteries (SIBs), the next generation of sustainable batteries, hard carbon (HC) composite electrodes are the most used anodes. Here, we demonstrate the potential of modulated electrochemical force microscopy (mec‐AFM) to investigate electrochemical strain due to ion insertion at the electrolyte/electrode interface.

Hypoxia-Regulated CD44 and xCT Expression Contributes to Late Postoperative Epilepsy in Glioblastoma

open access: yesBiomedicines
Background/Objectives: Late epilepsy occurring in the late stage after glioblastoma (GBM) resection is suggested to be caused by increased extracellular glutamate (Glu). To elucidate the mechanism underlying postoperative late epilepsy, the present study

Leveraging modified ex situ tomography data for segmentation of in situ synchrotron X‐ray computed tomography

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract In situ synchrotron X‐ray computed tomography enables dynamic material studies. However, automated segmentation remains challenging due to complex imaging artefacts – like ring and cupping effects – and limited training data. We present a methodology for deep learning‐based segmentation by transforming high‐quality ex situ laboratory data to ...

Applications of X-Ray Computed Tomography Technology to Solid–Liquid Phase Change Materials—A Review

open access: yesEnergies
Latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) based on phase change materials (PCMs) is receiving increasing interest since it offers high energy storage density while enabling the integration of variable renewable energies, hence boosting the transition ...

Mitochondrial capacities and quality control following short‐ and long‐term weight restoration after simulated anorexia nervosa

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a psychiatric disorder characterized by prolonged caloric restriction and skeletal muscle atrophy. Mitochondrial health is a key mediator of muscle function, yet the role of mitochondria during AN and following weight regain has not been investigated. The objective of this study was to evaluate mitochondrial capacities

On the Impact Energy Absorption of an Advanced High‐Strength Bilayer Steel Composite Consisting of Carbide‐Free Bainitic Steel and High‐Mn Twinning‐Induced Plasticity Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 6, 18 March 2026.
Excellent combinations of strength and impact toughness are obtained in a bilayer composite of high‐strength carbide‐free bainitic (CFB) steel and high‐ductility twinning‐induced plasticity (TWIP) steel. The composite absorbs energy at small strains when the notch is placed on the TWIP side and at high strains when the notch is placed on the CFB side ...

Food quality and product export performance. An empirical investigation of the EU situation [PDF]

open access: yes
The relationship between product quality (as indicated by unit value) and export performance, both measured in absolute (per capita) and relative terms, is investigated.
