xCT inhibition sensitizes tumors to γ-radiation via glutathione reduction [PDF]

open access: yesOncotarget, 2018
About 3 million US cancer patients and 1.7 million EU cancer patients received multiple doses of radiation therapy (RT) in 2012, with treatment duration limited by normal adjacent tissue damage. Tumor-specific sensitization could allow treatment with lower radiation doses, reducing normal tissue damage.

Pancreatic acinar cell fate relies on system xC - to prevent ferroptosis during stress

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2023
Acinar cell dedifferentiation is one of the most notable features of acute and chronic pancreatitis. It can also be the initial step that facilitates pancreatic cancer development.

GPX4 Inhibitor Resistance and Metastatic Features in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes breast cancer cell lines that are resistant to glutathione peroxidase 4 inhibitors (GPX4i) in vitro and investigates the metastatic capacity of the GPX4i‐resistant versus parental lines in vivo. GPX4i‐resistant cells survive upon intravenous injection, but lose capacity to spontaneously metastasize.

Anti-adiabatic limit of the exchange-correlation kernels of an inhomogeneous electron gas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We express the high-frequency (anti-adiabatic) limit of the exchange-correlation kernels of an inhomogeneous electron gas in terms of the following equilibrium properties: the ground-state density, the kinetic stress tensor, the pair-correlation function,

Microstructure‐Resolved Modeling to Predicting and Regulating Lithium Plating‐Stripping Dynamics on Graphite Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The lithium plating reaction in graphite electrodes acts as a root cause for the accelerated degradation and the internal short circuits in lithium‐ion batteries. Here, an electrochemical model based on multi‐scale microstructural images was established to identify lithium plating‐stripping processes, thereby supporting the predictive outcomes

Upsampling DINOv2 Features for Unsupervised Vision Tasks and Weakly Supervised Materials Segmentation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Feature from recent image foundation models (DINOv2) are useful for vision tasks (segmentation, object localization) with little or no human input. Once upsampled, they can be used for weakly supervised micrograph segmentation, achieving strong results when compared to classical features (blurs, edge detection) across a range of material systems.

xCT expression modulates cisplatin resistance in Tca8113 tongue carcinoma cells

open access: yesOncology Letters, 2016
Tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC), which is a subtype of head and neck cancer, is the most common type of oral cancer. Due to its high recurrence rate and chemoresistance, the average survival rate for patients with TSCC remains unsatisfactory.
