Mode-Dependent Effect of Xenon Inhalation on Kainic Acid-Induced Status Epilepticus in Rats

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2019
Previous studies have reported the possible neuroprotective effects of xenon treatment. The purpose of this study was to define the range of effective xenon ratio, most effective xenon ratio, and time-window for intervention in the kainic acid (KA ...

Effect of Inhaled Xenon on Cerebral White Matter Damage in Comatose Survivors of Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest: A Randomized Clinical Trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
IMPORTANCE: Evidence from preclinical models indicates that xenon gas can prevent the development of cerebral damage after acute global hypoxic-ischemic brain injury but, thus far, these putative neuroprotective properties have not been reported in human

Ionization of the xenon fluorides [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2003
The noble-gas atom xenon can bind fluorine atoms and form several stable compounds. We study the electronic structure of the xenon fluorides (XeFn, n=2, 4, 6) by calculating their ionization spectra using a Green’s function method, which allows one to treat many-body effects at a high level. Our focus is on the valence region and on the Xe 4d core hole.

Removing krypton from xenon by cryogenic distillation to the ppq level [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The XENON1T experiment aims for the direct detection of dark matter in a cryostat filled with 3.3 tons of liquid xenon. In order to achieve the desired sensitivity, the background induced by radioactive decays inside the detector has to be sufficiently ...

Impact of Electron Collision Mixing on the delay times of an electron beam excited Atomic Xenon laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The atomic xenon (5d¿6p) infrared laser has been experimentally and theoretically investigated using a short-pulse (30-ns), high-power (1-10-MW/cm3) coaxial electron beam excitation source.

Pseudorapidity distributions of charged hadrons in xenon-xenon collisions at sNN=5.44 TeV

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
Measurements of the pseudorapidity distributions of charged hadrons produced in xenon-xenon collisions at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of sNN=5.44 TeV are presented. The measurements are based on data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC.

Effects of xenon anesthesia on postoperative neurocognitive disorders: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2023
The latest clinical trials have reported conflicting outcomes regarding the effectiveness of xenon anesthesia in preventing postoperative neurocognitive dysfunction; thus, this study assessed the existing evidence.

Energy calibration of the NEXT-White detector with 1% resolution near Q ββ of 136Xe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Excellent energy resolution is one of the primary advantages of electroluminescent high-pressure xenon TPCs. These detectors are promising tools in searching for rare physics events, such as neutrinoless double-beta decay (ββ0ν), which require precise ...
