ABSTRACT Low‐voltage cables insulated with silicone rubber were harvested from three locations in the primary containment vessel of a boiling water nuclear power plant (NPP). Subsequently, the cable, which was placed in an ambient environment with a relatively higher temperature and the highest rate, was cut into four shorter ones.

ABSTRACT Silicone rubber (SR), an organic silicon polymer material, is known for its excellent heat resistance and mechanical properties. It is widely used in composite insulators and cable accessory materials. However, the ageing caused by humidity and heat significantly impacts its performance, an issue that cannot be ignored. This paper investigates

Insulation Degradation Diagnostic Technology to XLPE Cable
XLPE power cables have been in use for long time now and some of them are approaching 30 years of their designed lifetime. However, under the present severe economic situation, it is necessary to use the existing apparatus as long as possible. So, degradation diagnostic methods with high reliability are needed earnestly.

Thermally treated wheat gluten‐based materials have the potential to be used as low‐voltage electric insulation in e.g. electric motors. A future implementation of these types of protein materials enables a balance between performance and sustainability (from fossil‐based to biobased materials) in e.g. automotive applications.
