Switchgrass (SG) and Miscanthus (MS) boost ecosystem multifunctionality in marginal soils. Strong synergies, not trade‐offs, exist among ecosystem services under SG and MS. MS surpasses SG in provisioning and supporting services for higher multifunctionality. MS is ideal for maximizing multifunctionality, carbon sequestration, and stability.

Thermostability of β‐xylosidase from Aspergillus sydowii MG49 [PDF]
Heating of Aspergillus β‐xylosidase at 85°C ± 1°C and pH 5.5–6.0 (optimum for activity), causes irreversible, covalent thermoinactivation of the enzyme, involving oxidation of the thiol groups that are required for catalysis. Exogenous addition of cysteine, DTT, GSH and mercaptoethanol stabilizes the enzyme by extending its half‐life.

Toward Efficient Cellulosic Biomass Breakdown: Enzymatic Innovation and Kinetic Insights
By combining a processive GH7, CBM2a, and GH3 into single enzyme, the GCG fusion protein effectively breaks down crystalline cellulose. This tri‐domain architecture reduces cellobiose inhibition at the cellulose surface allowing for the simultaneous targeting of the substrate, depolymerization, and removal of products.
