Depth recovery of hairy fibers for precise yarn hairiness measurement
Applied Optics, 2018Hairiness is a concept describing the amount of hairy fibers (hairs) protruding from a yarn core in different spatial orientations and shapes. Most image-based hairiness assessment methods measure hairs by projecting a yarn on a 2D image plane, which suffers from two major problems: 1) not detecting defocused hairs (fuzzy hairs) when hairs are out of ...

Yarn Hairiness and the Process of Winding
Textile Research Journal, 1992The influence of winding on yarn hairiness is examined, and increased hairiness during winding is verified using a Zweigle hairiness tester. Specifically, this study concentrates on the increase of wild hairs on the yarn surface after winding, and the relationship between winding tension and yarn hairiness.

A Study on the Formation of Yarn Hairiness
Journal of the Textile Institute, 1999This paper examines the dynamic process of hairiness formation in worsted ring spinning. A special CCD camera was used to observe the fibre behaviour in the spinning triangle. The formation mechanisms of leading, trailing, looped, and wild hairs are demonstrated with a series of photos.

EFFECT OF SLUB PARAMETERS ON YARN UNEVENNESS, HAIRINESS AND STRENGHT PROPERTIES OF SLUB YARNS
TEKSTİL VE KONFEKSİYON, 2023In this study yarn unevenness, diameter variation, hairiness and strength properties of slub yarns with various slub structures were investigated. The yarns (Ne20) in different slub thickness (1.2, 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8), slub length (1 – 3, 5 – 7 and 10 – 12 cm.), slub frequency (0.5, 3 and 6 pcs/m) and slub ramp length (1, 2 and 4 cm.) were produced from

Recent Research on Yarn Hairiness Testing and Reduction: Part - Reduction of Yarn Hairiness
Research Journal of Textile and Apparel, 1999The first part ofthis series discussed current research on yam hairiness testing [Wang 1998]. In this part of the series, the importance of yam hairiness is outlined first. This is followed by a description of recent research on several novel ways of reducing yam hairiness.

Yarn Attrition and Hairiness: A Yarn Self-rubbing Test
The Journal of The Textile Institute, 1991An investigation is reported in which hairiness was measured on 40 yarns of different types before and after a yarn self-rubbing action and hairiness and attrition parameters were analysed. It was found that the maximum hair length detected generally decreased after the self-rubbing action, but the evolution of the hair-length distribution and the ...

A Study of the Hairiness of Cotton Yarns
Textile Research Journal, 1964Further studies on the hairiness of cotton yarns with particular reference to the influence of processing factors such as spinning draft, spindle speeds, traveller weights, yarn tensions, etc. are described in this paper. The influence on yarn hairiness of operations affecting the degree of parallelization and short fiber content in slivers is ...
