Properties Of Viscose Vortex Yarns Depending On Technological Parameters Of Spinning

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2015
This paper analyzes the relationship between technological parameters of spinning of 100% CV Vortex yarns of different counts and its selected geometrical parameters (a lead of helix of wrapping fibre ribbon, yarn diameter) as well as yarn properties ...

Damage analysis and fracture toughness evaluation in a thin woven composite laminate under static tension using infrared thermography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This work deals with the issue of damage growth in thin woven composite laminates subjected to tensile loading. The conducted tensile tests were monitored on-line with an infrared camera, and tested specimens were analysed using Scanning Electron ...

Experimental study of sandwich structures as armour against medium-velocity impacts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An experimental impact study has been conducted on sandwich structures to identify and improve armour solutions for aeronautical applications. The objectives are to find the best configurations, i.e. the non-perforated targets with the minimal weight and

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Mechanical Properties of Covered Yarn

open access: yesJournal of the Textile Machinery Society of Japan, 1970
This article analyzes a covered yarn, which consists of a core spandex yarn and an untwisted continuous viscose rayon yarn and discusses its mechanical properties by varying draft ratio, feed velocity, denier of core yarn and number of winds of covering yarn during the covering process. The helix angle θ can be determined by the above conditions. If the

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Simultaneous Optimization of Woven Fabric Properties Using Principal Component Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2017
The yarn structure and fabric interlacing pattern are determining parameters for fabric properties. The current study focusses on the multi-response optimization of certain fabric properties like shrinkage, areal density, thickness, flexural rigidity ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Investigation of the Performance of Cotton/Polyester Blend in Different Yarn Structures

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2022
The demand for polyester fiber is increasing gradually day by day. Because of its good strength, low manufacturing cost, and ease of modification, polyester fiber has distinct characteristics, whereas cotton is well known for its comfort.
