Control of Yarn Tension and Yarn Speed in Circular Knitting Machine.

open access: yesSen'i Kikai Gakkaishi (Journal of the Textile Machinery Society of Japan), 1994

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Tension-induced twist of twist-spun carbon nanotube yarns and its effect on their torsional behavior

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Twist-spun carbon nanotube (CNT) yarns exhibit a large and reversible rotational behavior under specific boundary conditions. In situ polarized Raman spectroscopy revealed that a tension-induced twist provides reversibility to this rotation.

Shock in the Yarn during Unwinding from Packages

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
Tension in the yarn and its oscillations during the over-end unwinding of the yarn from stationary packages depend on the unwinding speed, the shape and the winding type of the package, the air drag coefficient, and also the coefficient of friction ...

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Predicting torque of worsted singles yarn using an efficient radial basis function network-based method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The torque in single-spun yarns is an inherent property of the twisting and bending of staple fibres during the formation of yarn combined with the effect of applied tension on the yarn.
