A dynamic weaving simulator for filament-level 3D woven fabric modelling

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Textiles, 2022
A dynamic textile weaving simulator is established to connect weaving actions to fabric patterns and microstructures. It utilizes the Digital Element Approach (DEA) under the framework of the software package Digital Fabric and Composite Analyser (DFCA).

Smart Face Masks as Wearable Respiratory Sensors: A Review of Sensor Technologies, Materials, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in smart face masks that actively monitor breathing. By integrating humidity, gas, temperature, pressure, strain, and triboelectric sensors, these masks track key respiratory parameters in real time. The article summarizes sensor mechanisms, compares performance across studies, and discusses challenges and future ...

Influence of Warp Yarn Tension on Cotton Greige and Dyed Woven Fabric Prosperities [PDF]

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2013
Fabric properties such as pilling and abrasion resistance and tensile strength vary when greige fabric is processed further. The quality of dyed fabric depends on the quality of greige fabric.

Towards numerical simulation of yarn insertion on air-jet weaving looms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this research a structural solver and flow solver are coupled to simulate the motion of a nylon yarn as it is launched into the atmosphere by a main nozzle of an air-jet weaving loom. The high-speed air flow, large displacements of the yarn, 3D-nature

Temporally Delayed Deployment of Photo‐Responsive Liquid Crystal Polymer Networks Toward Neural Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Deployable medical devices typically need external stimuli to trigger deployment. However, external stimuli are difficult to supply within tissues. Here, we describe a strategy to deploy small‐scale structures into soft tissues after insertion without the need for any stimulus. We demonstrate deployment within a tissue phantom.

Tension-induced twist of twist-spun carbon nanotube yarns and its effect on their torsional behavior

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Twist-spun carbon nanotube (CNT) yarns exhibit a large and reversible rotational behavior under specific boundary conditions. In situ polarized Raman spectroscopy revealed that a tension-induced twist provides reversibility to this rotation.

Yarn Tension Control of Winding Machine Using Active Tensioner

open access: yesJournal of Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems, 2008
This paper is devoted to yarn tension control problem in winding machines. The passive take-up unit is replaced by active one with ADRC(Active Disturbance Rejection Control) and it was compared with the method using conventional PD(Proportional¬Derivative) controller.

Thermo‐Fluorescent Bactericidal Quantum Dots Based Smart Multifunctional Textiles via Molecular Surface Engineering and 3D‐Printed Interlocked Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A versatile approach is presented for fabricating smart multifunctional textiles by integrating thermo‐fluorescent carbon dot/polymer nanocomposite coatings with 3D‐printed interlocked architectures. The fabrics exhibit temperature‐responsive fluorescence, durable hydrophobicity, strong antibacterial and antioxidant activity, and enhanced UV protection.
