Analysis and Modeling of the System Boundaries of a High-Speed Direct-Yarn-Placement System for In Situ Impregnation of Carbon Fibre Heavy Tows as Textile Reinforcements for Concrete Parts

open access: yesFibers
This study investigates a novel approach in modeling the system limits of a braked, high-speed yarn-laying process with in situ impregnation. Special attention is paid to the investigation of the yarn spool overrun after the robot has come to a ...

Material Selection and Geometric Design for Few‐filament Shape Memory Polymer Yarns for Force Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A custom shape memory polymer material selection process relates quantitative application criteria (e.g., compression garment yarns) to material characterization information. The selected materials are manufactured into yarn geometries, which expand the design space by creating structural stress‐strain profiles beyond the nominal material stress‐strain

High‐Power Rapid Laser‐Induced Synthesis of Multi‐functional Cobalt Metal‐Organic Framework With an Unprecedented Synthesis Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Laser‐assisted synthesis enables rapid (within 1 h) and high‐yield (≥90%) production of Co‐MOFs with mesoporous structures, tunable magnetic and optical properties, and efficient adsorption of N2, CH4, and CO2 for low‐energy gas separation. DFT calculations elucidate the electronic structure and adsorption behavior.

An Investigation On Air and Thermal Transmission Through Knitted Fabric Structures Using the Taguchi Method

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2017
Knitted fabrics have excellent comfort properties because of their typical porous structure. Different comfort properties of knitted fabrics such as air permeability, thermal absorptivity, and thermal conductivity depend on the properties of raw material

Hollow Yarn in Friction Spinning. Part II: Yarn Structure and Deformation Under Axial Tension and Lateral Forces

open access: yes, 2001
In Part I of this study, we explained the method of producing a hollow yarn on a friction spinning machine and then considered its tensile properties. In this part of our study, we consider the structural properties of that yarn and the effect of axial ...

Bamboo Medical Application: A State‐of‐the‐Art Review

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review presents a structured classification of bamboo's current use in healthcare. It organizes applications into medical textiles and medical devices, with further divisions based on function and level of invasiveness. It also examines material utilization based on bamboo's structural role, highlighting how it supports both protective and ...

Effects of Yarn Tension on Knitted Fabric

open access: yesJournal of the Textile Machinery of Japan - Proceedings -, 1969
The purpose of this article is to consider the general properties of knitted fabrics in relation to yarn feeding tension.Experiments were made by using nylon and polyester false twisting yarn, with following results.(1) The increase of yarn feeding tension reduces the speed of the yarn feeding and shortened the stitch length.(2) Physical and mechanical

When Cubic is Not Isotropic: Phonon–Exciton Decoupling in CuInSnS4 Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A cubic CuInSnS4 crystal does not fully play by cubic rules. While phonons follow the average iso‐tropic lattice symmetry, the disorder‐localized excitons break away, showing strong, and reproduci‐ble polarization‐dependent emission. This work shows how intrinsic cation disorder can turn a mac‐roscopically cubic material into a source of hidden ...
