Evaluation of dietary yeast derived mannan oligosaccharide for pacific whiteleg shrimp Penaeus vannamei: Effects on growth performance, immune response, hepatopancreas morphology and resilience to infection against Vibrio parahaemolyticus

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
With trends towards low fishmeal and higher plant ingredient-based diets for shrimp, there is consequently greater demand on feed additives to bolster the protein and nutrient profile quality for achieving more efficiency.

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...

From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

Autotrophic yeast

open access: yesNature Communications
Yeast is a widely used cell factory for the conversion of sugar into fuels, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Establishing yeast as being autotrophic can enable it to grow solely on CO(2) and light, and hereby yeast can be used as a wider platform for transition to a sustainable society.

Engineered Living Systems With Self‐Organizing Neural Networks: From Anatomy to Behavior and Gene Expression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ectodermal tissue excised from Xenopus embryos self‐organizes into a three‐dimensional mucociliary organoid. Here, we generate a neural variant, termed neurobot, by implanting neural precursor cells. Neurobots develop mature neurons, adopt distinct morphologies, exhibit more complex motility, and respond differentially to neuroactive compounds. Imaging

Zinc, Copper and Manganese Enrichment in Yeast Saccharomyces cerevisae

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2004
The aim of the present work was to study the incorporation of some microelements in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and its impact on the physiological state of the yeast cells during the alcoholic fermentation.

Live yeast as a possible modulator of polyunsaturated fatty acid biohydrogenation in the rumen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In dairy cows, several studies focused on the effects of sodium bicarbonate and fibre on ruminal linoleic acid (c9c12-C18:2) biohydrogenation (BH) whereas literature is scarce about the effect of live yeast, used as a feed additive. The objective of this

WILD YEASTS IN PITCHING YEAST [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Institute of Brewing, 1958
Examination of pitching yeasts from various breweries by the method involving plating on an agar medium containing lysine, revealed the presence, in most samples, of “wild yeasts” in the proportion of about one cell per million cells of pitching yeast.

Detection of Protein–Protein Interactions in Escherichia coli With Single Molecule Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This article describes a regulatory circuit in Escherichia coli able to detect protein–protein interactions with exquisite sensitivity. The interaction between two hybrid proteins fused to Bordetella pertussis adenylate cyclase and its activator calmodulin triggers a potent cyclic AMP signaling cascade.

Investigation of the Influence of Nanoparticles of Metals on Fermenttation of Wort of High Concentrations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
There was theoretically grounded and experimentally proved the expedience of enriching high-concentrated wort of the starch-containing raw material with such additional source of mineral nutrition for yeast cells as nanoparticles of metals.
