Glutaredoxins (Grx) rapidly reduce glutathione polysulfides (GSSnSG) to glutathione hydroper/polysulfides (GSSnH) or GSSnH to hydrogen (poly)sulfides (H2Sn). Reduction of glutathionylated glutaredoxins by reduced glutathione (GSH) yields glutathione disulfide (GSSG).
