An estimation of growth parameter, mortality rates and yield-per-recruit for beluga (Huso huso) living in Caspian Sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This paper presents the results of study on age, growth, mortality rates and yield-per-recruit of Beluga (Huso huso) living in Caspian Sea. The mean length of successive years, mortality rates and yield-per-recruit studies indicated that at present the ...

Age, growth, mortality and yield per recruit of the dourado Salminus brasiliensis, Corumbá Reservoir, Goiás State, Brazil

open access: yesNeotropical Ichthyology
In order to evaluate the fate of the migratory species dourado Salminus brasiliensis in the first years of impoundment in Corumbá Reservoir we estimated age, growth, mortality and yield per recruit. Samplings were carried out monthly in Corumbá Reservoir

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

An assessment of European bream Abramis brama (Linnaeus, 1758) fishery in the downstream of the Irtysh River in China

open access: yesJournal of Freshwater Ecology, 2019
Per-recruit analyses, with consideration for uncertainty in growth, natural mortality and maturity, were conducted for European bream Abramis brama in the downstream section of the Irtysh River in China to assess its status.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Yield-per-recruit analysis of North Atlantic albacore (Thunnus Alalunga)

open access: yes, 1985
In this paper, a new North Atlantic albacore demographic table is presentad, based on a surface catch-by age revision and new longline catch-by-age data. With the demographic table, a cohort analysis was applied for the 1959-1971 cohorts, and recruitment for the population and fishing mortality for each fishery were obtained.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Black thread disease, control measures and yield stimulation in Hevea brasiliensis in Liberia [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Described are investigations, carried out in 1963 to 1971 in Hevea brasiliensis at the Firestone Plantation at Harbel in Liberia. Studied was the tapping panel disease, black thread, caused by the fungus Phytophthora palmivora.
