Improving codend selectivity in the fishery of the deep-sea red shrimp Aristeus antennatus in the northwestern Mediterranean Sea

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2017
The deep-sea red shrimp Aristeus antennatus is one of the most valuable demersal resources in Catalonia (northeast Spain), and Palamós is the most important harbour for this fishery in the area.

Preliminary yield per recruit analysis of the Indian Ocean yellowfin and bigeye fisheries

open access: yes, 1986

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Effects of natural mortality on the yield per recruit models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016

A note on mortality rates and yield per recruit in Nemipterus japonicus (Block) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
Both the yield per recruit in Weight ( Y ^ / R ) and in numbers (Yj^/R) in Nemipterus japonicus (Bloch) increase with increased fishing mortality i.e., with increased fishing mortality, yield increases to an asymptote.

Assessment of three nemipterid stocks based on trawl surveys in the Gulf of Suez, Red Sea

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Aquatic Research, 2018
The population structure of three Nemipterid species (Nemipterus japonicus, Nemipterus bipunctatus and Nemipterus zysron) from the Gulf of Suez was investigated. A total of 3663 specimens (2597 N. japonicus, 576 N. bipunctatus and 490 N.

Growth, Mortality, and Yield per Recruit of Synodontis schall (Bloch and Schneider, 1801) in Roseries Reservoir, Sudan

open access: yesAsian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Research
This study assessed the population bio-parameters of shield-head catfish Synodontis schall (Bloch & Schneider, 1801) in the Roseries Reservoir (Sudan), using length-frequency data analyzed with FiSAT software. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were determined as an asymptotic length (L∞) of 50.4 cm, and a growth curvature (K) of 0.17 yr.⁻¹ ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
