Effects of shoot age on biological and chemical properties of red currant (Ribes rubrum L.) cultivars

open access: yesFolia Horticulturae, 2020
The aim of this study was to examine the influence of shoot age on biological and chemical properties of 11 red currant cultivars (‘Jonkheer van Tets’, ‘Junifer’, ‘London Market’, ‘Makosta’, ‘Mirana’, ‘Redpoll’, ‘Rolan’, ‘Rondom’, ‘Rovada’, ‘Slovakia ...

Efficient Yield Optimization with Limited Gradient Information

open access: yes, 2022
In this work an efficient strategy for yield optimization with uncertain and deterministic optimization variables is presented. The gradient based adaptive Newton-Monte Carlo method is modified, such that it can handle variables with (uncertain parameters) and without (deterministic parameters) analytical gradient information.

Genotypic variation in phosphorus efficiency between wheat cultivars grown under greenhouse and field conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Phosphorus (P) efficiency (relative growth), which is described as the ratio of shoot dry matter or grain yield at deficient P supply to that obtained under adequate P supply, was compared in 25 winter wheat cultivars grown under greenhouse and field ...

Feature Products Yield Efficient Networks

open access: yes, 2020
We introduce Feature-Product networks (FP-nets) as a novel deep-network architecture based on a new building block inspired by principles of biological vision. For each input feature map, a so-called FP-block learns two different filters, the outputs of which are then multiplied.

Neutron production by cosmic-ray muons at shallow depth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The yield of neutrons produced by cosmic ray muons at a shallow depth of 32 meters of water equivalent has been measured. The Palo Verde neutrino detector, containing 11.3 tons of Gd loaded liquid scintillator and 3.5 tons of acrylic served as a target ...

Multiple output production with undesirable outputs : an application to nitrogen surplus in agriculture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Many production processes yield both good outputs and undesirable ones (e.g., pollutants). In this article we develop a generalization of a stochastic frontier model that is appropriate for such technologies.

Lecciana, a New Low-Vigour Olive Cultivar Suitable for Super High Density Orchards and for Nutraceutical EVOO Production

open access: yesAgronomy, 2021
Cultivar is the key factor for sustainability of the olive super high density planting system (SHD). ‘Lecciana’ is a new olive cultivar for oil production obtained in 1998 by a controlled cross between cv. Arbosana (♀) and cv.

Apple cultivars bred in Holovousy. Part 1 - Characteristics of the orchard

open access: yesHorticultural Science, 2013
Twenty-one standard apple cultivars bred in Holovousy and registered in the Czech Republic during 1994-2011 were included in a comparative study. Their tree parameters and yields were evaluated from 2004 till 2011 in a comparison to cvs Golden Delicious ...

Grain zinc, iron and protein concentrations and zinc-efficiency in wild emmer wheat under contrasting irrigation regimes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Micronutrient malnutrition, and particularly deficiency in zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe), afflicts over three billion people worldwide, and nearly half of the world’s cereal-growing area is affected by soil Zn deficiency.
