CENTRAL BANK FINANCIAL STRENGTH AND THE COST OF STERILIZATION IN CHINA [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper investigates the current monetary policy regime of China’s Central Bank, the People’s Bank of China (PBoC). This is done from the specific viewpoint of PBoC financial strength and the cost of its monetary policy instruments.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Defining Yield Strength for NonPrestressed Reinforcing Steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Analytical strengths of reinforced concrete beams and columns based on reinforcing steel stress-strain curves with and without a sharp yield plateau and the nonlinear stress-strain behavior of concrete are compared with strengths calculated in accordance

Steady-state and transient Zener parameters in viscoplasticity: Drag strength wersus yield strength [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A hypothesis is put forth which enables the viscoplaslician to formulate a theory of viscoplasticity that reduces, in closed form, to the classical theory of creep. This hypoiliesis is applied to a variety of drag and yield strength models.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Development and application of micromechanical techniques for characterising interfacial shear strength in fibre-thermoplastic composites

open access: yes, 2012
The development of single fibre pull-out and microbond tests for characterising interfacial strength in thermoplastic composites is reviewed in detail. Manufacture of an experimental jig and sample preparation regimes for both tests are described.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.
