Observation of Ultrahigh Mobility Surface States in a Topological Crystalline Insulator by Infrared Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Topological crystalline insulators (TCIs) possess metallic surface states protected by crystalline symmetry, which are a versatile platform for exploring topological phenomena and potential applications.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Experimental Study of the Yield Surface of Saturated Silty Tailings [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی عمران شریف
Static liquefaction is one of the most important challenges for the stability of mining tailings dams. Several experimental studies have been conducted on this issue within the framework of critical state theory.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Elastic potentials as yield surfaces for isotropic materials.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
This paper proposes that elastic potentials, which may be rigorously formulated using the negative Gibbs free energy or the complementary strain energy density, may be used as the yield surface of elasto-plastic constitutive models.

Topological descriptors for 3D surface analysis

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate topological descriptors for 3D surface analysis, i.e. the classification of surfaces according to their geometric fine structure. On a dataset of high-resolution 3D surface reconstructions we compute persistence diagrams for a 2D cubical ...

Simple Yield Surface Expressions Appropriate for Soil Plasticity [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geomechanics, 2010
The objective of this paper is to present a number of simple, practical, and useful analytical expressions of a yield surface for geomaterials. In classical plasticity, the analytical expression of a yield surface defines the locus of points in stress space at which plastic flow initiates, and the corresponding function must depend on direct and mixed ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Physical Origin of Differences among various Measures of Solar Meridional Circulation

open access: yes, 2010
We show that systematic differences between surface Doppler and magnetic element tracking measures of solar meridional flow can be explained by the effects of surface turbulent magnetic diffusion.
