Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Determination of optimal parameters of basil supercritical fluid extraction by response surface methodology [PDF]

open access: yesActa Periodica Technologica, 2016
The supercritical fluid extraction of aroma compounds from basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) was studied. Response surface methodology was used to optimize the parameters of the process. Full factorial design was applied to evaluate the effects of two

Photoemission footprints of extrinsic plasmarons

open access: yes, 2015
A prediction how to experimentally distinguish excitations of extrinsic plasmarons from intrinsic plasmarons is presented. In surface systems where excitations of acoustic surface plasmons is possible it is shown that the photo-electron yield in normal ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

(Meta-)stable reconstructions of the diamond(111) surface: interplay between diamond- and graphite-like bonding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Off-lattice Grand Canonical Monte Carlo simulations of the clean diamond (111) surface, based on the effective many-body Brenner potential, yield the $(2\times1)$ Pandey reconstruction in agreement with \emph{ab-initio} calculations and predict the ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

A Physical Limit to the Magnetic Fields of T Tauri Stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Recent estimates of magnetic field strengths in T Tauri stars yield values $B=1$--$4\,{\rm kG}$. In this paper, I present an upper limit to the photospheric values of $B$ by computing the equipartition values for different surface gravities and effective

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
