S, T, U parameters in $SU(3)_C\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)$ model with right-handed neutrinos

open access: yes, 1999
The S, T, U parameters in the $ SU(3)_C\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)$ model with right -handed neutrinos are calculated. Explicit expressions for the oblique and Z - Z' mixing contributions are obtained.

Lifestyle, Eating Habits, and Health Behaviors Among Dietary Supplement Users in Three European Countries

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2022
Dietary supplements (DS) are used by about 30–50% of adults in developed countries. However, only a few studies have compared the characteristics of DS users in different nations. This study aimed to identify and compare selected health-related behaviors

A Drosophila female pheromone elicits species-specific long-range attraction via an olfactory channel with dual specificity for sex and food

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2017
Mate finding and recognition in animals evolves during niche adaptation and involves social signals and habitat cues. Drosophila melanogaster and related species are known to be attracted to fermenting fruit for feeding and egg-laying, which poses the ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Pheromone gland transcriptome of the pink bollworm moth, Pectinophora gossypiella: Comparison between a laboratory and field population

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
The pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella, is a world-wide pest of cotton and in some parts of the cotton growing region is controlled by the mating disruption technique using synthetic sex pheromone. The sex pheromone consists of two compounds, (Z,Z)-

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

A novel and superior diagnostic test for feline leukemia virus: enhanced precision in rapid detecting viral antigen in blood, plasma and serum

open access: yesVirology Journal
Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) significantly impacts feline health worldwide. Although several FeLV antigen rapid tests are available, selecting an accurate diagnostic tool remains a clinical challenge. In this paper, we present a novel and robust point-of-

Self-Sustainable Smart Ring for Long-Term Monitoring of Blood Oxygenation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Medical devices measure vital parameters such as pulse, respiration rate, and blood oxygenation, over periods of days or weeks in a continuous manner. Traditional systems only support such requirements in stationary applications where a constant power ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
