Polarization dependence of Z-scan measurement: theory and experiment
Here we report on an extension of common Z-scan method to arbitrary polarized incidence light for measurements of anisotropic third-order nonlinear susceptibility in isotropic medium. The normalized transmittance formulas of closed-aperture Z-scan are obtained for linearly, elliptically and circularly polarized incidence beam.

ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Z-scan measurement with an astigmatic Gaussian beam [PDF]
Z-scan measurement with a slit instead of a circular aperture is proposed and analyzed for an astigmatic Gaussian beam. This new technique can accurately determine not only the nonlinear refractive index but also the ellipticity and positions of x–y foci of the astigmatic beam.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Hyperspectral z-scan: measurement of spectrally resolved nonlinear optical properties
Broadband hyperspectral z-scan using a supercontinuum light source is a convenient technique to obtain spectrally resolved nonlinear optical properties of the materials under investigation.

Z-scan measurements using femtosecond continuum generation
We present a single beam Z-scan technique using an intense, broadband, white-light continuum (WLC) beam for the direct measurement of nonlinear absorption spectra. In order to demonstrate the validity of our technique, we compared the results of tetraaniline and Sudan 3 solutions obtained with WLC and conventional single wavelength light sources.
