THE CONFIGURATION OF THE BASEMENT BENEATH THE ZAGROS BASIN
Journal of Petroleum Geology, 2003It has long been recognised that the deposition and deformation of the Phanerozoic cover in the Zagros Basin (mountains plus foreland) was strongly influenced by the reactivation of old tectonic fabrics in its basement. Facies boundaries and structures trending north‐south and NW‐SE can be attributed to the reactivation of Pan‐African sutures and Najd ...

Microfacies and sedimentary environment of the Jahrum formation, south-central Zagros basin
Carbonates and Evaporites, 2021The Jahrum formation in age Paleocene-Eocene is an important hydrocarbon reservoir rock in Zagros basin. Jahrum formation in wells number 11 and 13 of Golkhari oilfield located at the north of Bushehr port has been examined in this study. Petrography studies (to identify microfacies, sedimentary environment, and sedimentation model), biostratigraphy ...

Biostratigraphy and Paleoecology of Maastrichtian Sediments in the Zagros Basin, Iran
Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition, 2013Abstract:To enable the lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphic study of the Gurpi Formation, within the ‘Dezak’ or Globigerina Marl, a stratigraphic section at Booraki, located to the NNW of Shiraz, SW Iran, through the late Cretaceous was examined.

PERMIAN AND TRIASSIC STRATIGRAPHY, ZAGROS BASIN, SOUTH‐WEST IRAN
Journal of Petroleum Geology, 1978The Permian and Triassic beds deposited in the Zagros Basin form a massive carbonate and evaporite sequence in excess of 2000m. These strata were divided into clearly recognizable and mappable lithostratigraphic units and major lithofacies types using surface exposures, subsurface log information and sample cuttings.

Palynostratigraphy of Devonian sediments in the Zagros Basin, southern Iran
Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology, 2003Abstract A total of 100 surface samples from the Zakeen and Faraghan formations were collected and processed in the palynological laboratory of the Exploration Directorate of the National Iranian Oil Company. The majority of surface samples contain well-preserved and abundant palynomorph taxa (acritarchs, miospores and scolecodonts).

Biostratigraphic Revision of Middle-Cretaceous Biostratigraphy Succession in South Zagros Basin
Journal of Earth Science & Climatic Change, 2014Cenomanian succession (Sarvak Formation) is well distributed along Zagros area particularly in the south portion of the Zagros (Fars area). This study attempts to determine the precise biostratigraphic biozones of four stratigraphic sections selected from the Cenomanian strata south Zagros basin, including the sections of Nour Abad, Samghan, Doroodzan,

Petroleum source-rock potential of the Piranj oil field, Zagros basin
Marine and Petroleum Geology, 2016Abstract Zagros basin constitutes one of the most prolific hydrocarbon producing habitats and the second largest basin in the Middle East. The Piranj oil field is part of The Middle Cretaceous–Early Miocene Petroleum System in Zagros basin and southwest of Iran.

Sequence Stratigraphy of Pabdeh Formation in Dezful Embayment (Zagros Basin) SW Iran
GEO 2010, 2010Pabdeh Formation (upper Eocene-Oligocene) is a carbonate dominated sedimentary package with shale -marl intervals. This Formation was studied the type section (Kuh-E-Gurpi) and four boreholes located in Dezful Embayment (Zagros Basin). The Pabdeh Formation comprises three depositional sequences bounded by Type I sequence boundary in lower part and both

Controls on the sequence stratigraphic architecture of the Neogene Zagros foreland basin
2018We investigated the sequence stratigraphic architecture of Neogene deposits in the Zagros region using 12 measured stratigraphic sections and performing strontium isotope measurements on 10 samples. We combined our data with 44 previous published Sr isotope measurements and fi ve paleomagnetostratigraphic sections in order to place the foreland ...
