The Zeldovich Number: A Universal Dimensionless Measure for the Electromagnetic Field

open access: yesPhysics, 2023
In this paper we extend the Zeldovich formula, which was originally derived for the free electromagnetic field and was interpreted as the number of photons. We show that our extended formula gives a universal dimensionless measure of the overall strength of electromagnetic fields: free fields and fields produced by various sources, in both the ...

On the Number Density of Sunyaev-Zeldovich Clusters of Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2000
If the mean properties of clusters of galaxies are well described by the entropy-driven model, the distortion induced by the cluster population on the blackbody spectrum of the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation is proportional to the total amount of intracluster gas while temperature anisotropies are dominated by the contribution of clusters of ...

Premixed Combustion in Boundary Layers for Moderate Values of the Zeldovich Numbers [PDF]

open access: yesCombustion Science and Technology, 1986
The classical problem of the ignition and flame generation of combustible premixed gases by a hot flat pJate is analyzed by asymptotic techniques for moderate values of the Zeldovich numbers. For temperatures of the plate smaller than the adiabatic flame temperature it was found that the corrections to the zeroth-order solution (Zeldovich approximation)

Measuring the Mach Number of the Universe via the Sunyaev-Zeldovich Effect [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2004
We introduce a new statistic to measure more accurately the cosmic sound speed of clusters of galaxies at different redshifts. This statistic is evaluated by cross-correlating cosmic microwave background (CMB) fluctuations caused by the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect from observed clusters of galaxies with their redshifts.

Nonthermal Plasma–Enabled Cascade N2 Activation and Electroreduction

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
Integrating plasma‐assisted NOx synthesis with subsequent electrochemical reduction enables the sustainable synthesis of high‐value N‐containing chemicals under ambient conditions. ABSTRACT The development of sustainable nitrogen fixation technologies operating under ambient conditions is critical for reducing the energy intensity and carbon footprint ...

Hydrogen‐Enriched Tri‐Fuel Combustion for Low‐Carbon Engines at Medium Engine Load: A Comprehensive CFD Analysis

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
CFD analysis of a diesel–CH4–H2 tri‐fuel engine shows that increasing hydrogen energy share (HES) enhances mixing and accelerates combustion, improving pressure, efficiency, and reducing CO and soot. At 60% HES, ISFC improves 26.2%, soot drops 95%, while NOx increases due to higher temperatures. ABSTRACT The global commitment to achieve net‐zero carbon

The Linear Bias in the Zeldovich Approximation and a Relation between the Number Density and the Linear Bias of Dark Halos

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2000
The linear bias of the dark halos from a model under the Zeldovich approximation is derived and compared with the fitting formula of simulation results. While qualitatively similar to the Press-Schechter formula, this model gives a better description for the linear bias around the turnaround point.

Navigating Classical and Nonclassical Realms of Nucleation and Crystallization

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Classical nucleation and growth theories have long been foundational, yet recent nonclassical concepts have challenged and refined our understanding of solid‐state genesis. This paradigm shift introduced new, often ambiguous vocabulary. Here, we clarify key concepts, correct common misconceptions, and provide a terminological field guide across systems,

Validation of the QOLIBRI‐KIDDY self‐rated and proxy‐rated questionnaires after paediatric traumatic brain injury

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
This validation study examines the final versions of the QOLIBRI‐KIDDY (self‐report) and QOLIBRI‐KIDDY‐Proxy (parent‐report) questionnaires, designed to measure health‐related quality of life in children aged 6–7 following traumatic brain injury. Both versions cover six domains, demonstrate reliable psychometric properties, and give children a voice ...

The Role of Lightning in Atmospheric Chemistry

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 16, 28 August 2026.
Abstract Lightning has important effects on atmospheric constituents in primarily the middle and upper troposphere. We summarize the effects of lightning on atmospheric chemistry that have been published since the last major review in 2007. The estimates of NOx production by lightning (LNOx) are based on five methods: theoretical/laboratory estimates ...
