Nucleation Kinetics Reveals a Distinct Biological Function Space of Biomolecular Condensates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
This study utilizes microfluidics to quantify the nucleation rates of dense liquid phases within dilute solutions and of the reverse process, in which dilute voids nucleate inside condensates. The interfacial tension is identified as the key determinant of both processes.

Modeling the Delivery of Mercury's Polar Ice by a Volatile‐Rich Impact

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Permanently shadowed regions near Mercury's poles are thought to harbor significant deposits of water ice, the origin of which remains to be conclusively determined. One leading hypothesis is that most of the water observed today may have been delivered by a relatively recent, volatile‐rich impact comparable in scale and age to that which ...

Sustainable Optimization of Emissions and Performance in Hydrogen Port Injection Diesel Engines Through Port Timing and Injection Duration Modulation

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1725-1748, April 2026.
Optimizing hydrogen port injection in diesel engines significantly improves efficiency and reduces emissions, demonstrating a sustainable dual‐fuel strategy for cleaner transportation solutions and lower environmental impact. ABSTRACT This study evaluates a single‐cylinder hydrogen port injection (HPFI) Diesel engine by systematically varying the ...

Cultivation‐Based Detection of a Novel High‐GC Nitrospira Derived From the Argentinian Copahue Volcano Area

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 4, April 2026.
In this cultivation‐based study, two novel moderately thermophilic Nitrospira enrichments were obtained from the geothermal field Las Máquinas in the Neuquén Province, Argentina. Both nitrite oxidizers, belonging to lineage V or the novel taxonomic lineage VIII, contain quorum‐sensing genes and a high genome GC content of 60.6% and 69.4%.

Clustering of DESI galaxies split by thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics
The thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich (tSZ) effect is associated with galaxy clusters - extremely large and dense structures tracing the dark matter with a higher bias than isolated galaxies.

The Future of Hydrogen‐Powered Aviation: Technologies, Challenges, and a Strategic Roadmap for Sustainable Decarbonization

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
Hydrogen‐powered aviation offers a transformative pathway to zero‐emission flight by eliminating in‐flight CO2 emissions. Key considerations include propulsion systems (fuel cells and hydrogen combustion), cryogenic storage and insulation challenges, infrastructure and cost barriers, and supply‐chain constraints.

Copper Contact for Perovskite Solar Cells: Properties, Interfaces, and Scalable Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
Copper electrodes, as low‐cost, scalable contacts for perovskite solar cells, offer several advantages over precious metals such as Au and Ag, including performance, cost, deposition methods, and interfacial engineering. Copper (Cu) electrodes are increasingly considered practical, sustainable alternatives to noble‐metal contacts in perovskite solar ...

Computational Analysis of Spray Angle Effects on Combustion and Emissions in Methane‐Diesel Dual‐Fuel Engine

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 1100-1112, March 2026.
This study concluded that wider spray angles produce wall impingement and greater unburned hydrocarbons in methane‐diesel dual‐fuel engines, whereas 110° balances efficiency and emissions. ABSTRACT A diesel methane dual fuel engine appears as a potential means for lowering emissions while retaining useful thermal efficiency.

Toward Large Nonradiating Qubits: When Quantum Engineering Meets Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2026.
Nonradiating superconducting qubits suppress radiative losses through photonic‐inspired mechanisms such as anapole states and bound states in the continuum (BICs). This review surveys theoretical foundations and recent implementations of large, wavelength‐scale qubits that confine electromagnetic energy while maintaining coherence.

Mathematical Modeling of Measured Recalescence Velocities

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 977-988, 30 January 2026.
ABSTRACT A moving‐boundary problem of synchronous directional and volumetric solidification in undercooled liquid drops is formulated and solved. Directional solidification is caused by the temperature gradient along the spatial direction, whereas volumetric growth of new phase elements is caused by the melt undercooling ahead of the phase transition ...
