Implementation of interactive arm playback behaviors of social robot Zeno for autism spectrum disorder therapy

Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments, 2012
In this paper, we describe control algorithms accomplishing human-robot interaction through mimicking behaviors between the humanoid robot Zeno and humans. Specifically, arm and torso motions of the robot follow closely those of the human, this mimicking behavior, can be used for clinical treatment and diagnosis during robot therapy of subjects ...

Compound Zeno Behavior-based Autonomous Mobile Robot Obstacle Avoidance Algorithm in Unknown Environment

2006 1st International Symposium on Systems and Control in Aerospace and Astronautics, 2006
This paper concentrates on just producing emergency behaviors that lead the mobile robot navigation around the obstacles. Furthermore, the definitions of deterministic behaviors, zeno behaviors and compound zeno behaviors are given. The theoretical foundations of designing of the compound zeno behaviors are discussed.

The Zeno (Z = 1) Behavior of Equations of State:  An Interpretation across Scales from Macroscopic to Molecular

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2000
The regularity exhibited by fluids along the contour of the unit compressibility factor in the temperature−density plane, where Z ⋮ PV/RT = 1, is explored as a means for testing and improving the volumetric equations of state. For a wide range of pure fluids, this contour, known as the Zeno line, has been empirically observed to be nearly linear from ...

What Causes Your Behaviors? Zeno and Pierre Bourdieu on the Body

2020
The conventional interpretation is that mental decision-making processes primarily participate in causing our bodily behaviors and actions. Zeno’s position simplifies this kind of interpretation by arguing that only things that are bodied exist. This means that only bodies act and are acted upon.

Short Time Behavior and Zeno Effect in Relativistic Quantum Field Theory

1997
We study the short-time evolution of decaying particles in the framework of relativistic quantum field theory. Significant differences between the relativistic and non-relativistic (that is, non-relativistic quantum mechanics) cases are found; in particular the so-called quantum Zeno effect is not present in relativistic quantum field theory, at least ...

Characterizing knee-bounce in bipedal robotic walking

Proceedings of the 14th international conference on Hybrid systems: computation and control, 2011
This paper studies the walking behavior of kneed bipedal robots with knee-lock and knee-bounce, formally demonstrating that if knee-locking results in stable bipedal walking, then small amounts of knee-bounce still will result in a walking gait for the robot.
