Zero Current Synchronization of Opening Switch Contacts
IEEE Transactions on Components, Hybrids, and Manufacturing Technology, 1986Thermostatic controls switching ac loads at 220 V, 50 Hz consist of a slowly moving thermally activated prime mover operating randomly on a small snap-action switch. An experimental study on the opening characteristic of the snap-action switch has shown that the point on the current wave at which contact separation occurs becomes nonrandom on its ...

Zero current switching Type Class DE rectifier
IECON 2012 - 38th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2012This paper introduces a zero current switching (ZCS) type Class DE rectifier, along with design procedure, simulation and experimental results. The feature of ZCS type Class DE rectifier is that the diodes maintain ZCS and zero current derivative switching (ZCDS), therefore, switching losses and switching noise are reduced.

A new family of zero-current-switching (ZCS) pulsewidth-modulated (PWM) converters using a new ZCS-PWM auxiliary circuit is presented in this paper. The main switch and auxiliary switch operate at zero-current-switching turn on and turn off, and the all passive semiconductor devices in the ZCS-PWM converters operate at zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) turn

A new zero-current-switching constant switching frequency boost converter
1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002The authors present a new boost topology which can be operated in constant switching frequency and zero-current-switching. In addition, the voltage stresses on the active switches are as low as the traditional boost pulse width modulated (PWM) converter. The control curves are derived through the normalized state-plane trajectory.

Class-E zero-voltage-switching and zero-current-switching rectifiers
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, 1990A number of class-E, half-wave and full-wave, zero-voltage-switching (low dv/dt), zero-current-switching (low di/dt), and mixed-mode rectifiers are introduced and verified experimentally. The rectifiers are derived from conventional rectifiers by adding reactive components.

A zero-current-switching multilevel switched capacitor DC-DC converter
2011 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2011This paper introduces a zero-current-switching multilevel switched capacitor dc-dc converter for use in high voltage gain and high temperature applications. This circuit has a reduced charge path, low switch count and low device ratings compared to many similar topologies. Furthermore, switching losses and component size are greatly reduced.

A family of zero current switching switched-capacitor dc-dc converters
2010 Twenty-Fifth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2010This paper presents a new zero current switching (ZCS) technique for a family of switched-capacitor dc-dc converters. Compared to the traditional ZCS switched-capacitor dc-dc converters by inserting a magnetic core in the circuit, these new ZCS switched-capacitor dc-dc converters employ the stray inductance present in the circuit as the resonant ...

Switching losses of IGBTs under zero-voltage and zero-current switching
PESC Record. 27th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2002Turn-off switching losses of punch-through (PT) and nonpunch-through (NPT) IGBTs under hard switching (HS) and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) are presented and evaluated at 25/spl deg/C, 75/spl deg/C and 125/spl deg/C. A comparison between PT and NPT devices based on their internal device characteristics is given for HS and ZVS.

Multiple output zero-current switching switched-capacitor bidirectional dc–dc converter
International Journal of Electronics, 2010The proposed circuit is a multiple output quasi-resonant (QR) zero-current switching (ZCS) switched-capacitor (SC) converter with a bidirectional power flow control conversion scheme. The principles of the proposed multiple output QR ZCS SC bidirectional dc–dc converter are described using a detailed circuit model for analysis.

Trench gate IGBTs for zero current switching applications
Eighteenth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2003. APEC '03., 2004This paper reports on the behaviour of trench IGBTs in comparison with equivalent DMOS IGBTs in zero current switching converters. Extensive experimental results backed up by accurate Spice modelling are presented. These results indicate the superior performance of Trench IGBTs particularly at high switching frequencies, currents and junction ...
