A novel technique for reducing leakage current by application of zero-sequence voltage

2014 International Power Electronics Conference (IPEC-Hiroshima 2014 - ECCE ASIA), 2014
This paper proposes a technique for reducing the leakage current flowing into a power source as a conducted noise. This leakage current may have an adverse effect on the peripheral equipment, e.g., causing malfunctions. The proposed technique requires us to add a zero-sequence voltage to the output voltage reference of the inverter.

APF-based cancellation of the source-end zero sequence current

2010 International School on Nonsinusoidal Currents and Compensation, 2010
Analytical assessment of the successful neutral current cancellation methods is the main goal of this paper. Furthermore, proposing a generalized time-domain method is pursued in order to achieve full cancellation of the source-end neutral current under unbalanced and distorted load voltage waveforms.

The zero sequence circulating current suppression based on virtual impedance

2012 Power Engineering and Automation Conference, 2012
There are zero sequence circuits, when inverters work in parallel directly, and zero sequence circulating current would flow, when zero sequence voltage of the inverter is different with that of the gird. The mechanism of the zero sequence circulating current is analyzed.

Diagnosis of bearing fault in induction motor by zero sequence current

2017 International Conference on Innovative Research In Electrical Sciences (IICIRES), 2017
Fault detections are essential for unexpected failures of the electrical motors. Early detection and faults diagnosis leads to effective operations. This paper deals a diagnosis of faults in three phase induction motor by means of zero-sequence stator current spectrum. The simulation and experimental setup are designed under bearing faults.

A Review of System Grounding Methods and Zero Sequence Current Sources

2008 61st Annual Conference for Protective Relay Engineers, 2008
The purpose of this paper is to provide a tutorial or "refresher" on grounding methods, sources of ground current, ground current flow in the power system, and how each impacts protective relaying. With retirements, new hires, reorganization, cross training, and so on, this subject, like many others, requires regular review to maintain the experience ...

The Research on the Zero Sequence Circulating Current Suppression in Parallel Inverters

2012 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2012
That inverters work in direct parallel would increase the reliability and capacity, and also reduce the cost and volume for tidal current generation system, but the zero sequence circulating current will be generated. The state model of the parallel connected inverters is constructed in synchronous rotating coordinates, the mechanism of circulating ...

Coordination of Superconductive Fault Current Limiters With Zero-Sequence Current Protection of Transmission Lines

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2014
A 500 kV saturated iron-core superconductive fault current limiter (SISFCL) has been designed to be installed in an extra high voltage (EHV) transmission system in southern China. We carried out studies on compatibility and coordination problems in the application of this kind of device in an EHV network.

Research on zero-sequence current calculation method for VSC and circulation current of parallel VSC

2017 2nd International Conference on Power and Renewable Energy (ICPRE), 2017
Renewable energy usually adopts flexible grid connection technology which based on three-phase voltage source converter (VSC) and droop control to connect with the distribution. Zero-sequence current of three-phase VSC has influence on on-state loss current and zero-sequence circulating current.

Zero-Sequence Current Distribution Along Transmission Lines

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1969
The zero-sequence current distribution among ground wires and the ground-return path of overhead transmission lines is subject to change in the vicinity of a ground fault and the feeding point. This paper introduces the concepts used in connection with the end-effect phenomena of transmission lines and describes the necessity for solving the end-effect

Zero-sequence current blocking device for two phase AC systems

2019 54th International Universities Power Engineering Conference (UPEC), 2019
Resonantly grounded power systems require fault current limitation in order to meet current standards and to ensure personal safety. A current limiting transformer (CLT), based on an isolating transformer, is investigated here. The major advantages of CLT, compared to an isolating transformer, are power derating, reduction of u k value and thus ...
