Lessening zero sequence effects in dynamic voltage restorers

APCCAS 2008 - 2008 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems, 2008
This paper puts forward an analysis of the effects of zero sequence components on power devices in particularly on the dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) and gives simulation results. It is shown that four-wire DVR do better then the traditional three-wire DVR, unbalance voltage and zero sequence components can be lessened by four-wire DVR effectively ...

Mitigating Zero Sequence Effects in Dynamic Voltage Restorers

2007 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2007
This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the effects of zero sequence components on series custom power devices in particularly on the dynamic voltage restorer (DVR). It is shown that the conventional three-wire DVR could not properly compensate for voltage sags containing a zero sequence component due to the lack of zero sequence current ...

Harmonic Analysis of Voltage Zero-Sequence-Based Encoderless Techniques

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2006
This paper exploits the interaction between the low-frequency and the high-frequency fields created by signal-injection techniques during sensorless estimation of the air-gap flux position in induction machines. Such an interaction causes new phenomena that can be summarized in a modulation of the machine saturation level and creation of harmonics that

Impact of zero sequence component on voltage-source converters

Proceedings of the Power Conversion Conference-Osaka 2002 (Cat. No.02TH8579), 2003
Presently, the preferred circuit of PWM (pulse width modulation) converters has the open-wye 3-phase connection, in which the zero sequence does not exist. Single-line-to-ground fault studies have shown that the grounded-wye connection is better from protection and security consideration.

Diagnostics of induction machines using the zero sequence voltage

Conference Record of the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Conference, 2004. 39th IAS Annual Meeting., 2004
Diagnostics of induction machines using the zero sequence voltage is presented in this paper. Both stator-winding fault and broken rotor bar detection are covered. Faults in the stator windings or damaged rotor bar cause asymmetries in the phase impedances of the machine, which give rise to zero sequence voltage components.

Zero-sequence current dynamics in parallel-connected voltage source converters

2009 IEEE Electric Ship Technologies Symposium, 2009
Multiple three-phase voltage source converters may be connected in parallel to supply an AC voltage bus or a load in excess of the rating of an individual power converter. Without a circulating path, a zero-sequence current generally does not exist in a single power converter; however, it typically exists in parallel-connected three-phase power ...

Operation of dynamic voltage restorers without zero sequence compensation capability

2010 9th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications - INDUSCON 2010, 2010
Dynamic voltage compensators have been playing important role in the protection of sensitive loads against disturbances, as voltage sags and swells. One implementation option for such equipment is based on the use of a conventional three-phase inverter, which is not able to inject zero sequence components.

Compensation of voltage sag and harmonics by dynamic voltage restorer without zero sequence blocking

2011 3rd International Conference on Electronics Computer Technology, 2011
Amic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is a power electronic device to protect sensitive loads from voltage sag. Commonly, sensitive loads are electronic-based devices which generate harmonics. This paper presents fuzzy polar based DVR as voltage sag restorer and harmonics compensator without zero sequence blocking.

A Capacitor-Voltage-Balancing Method Based on Optimal Zero-Sequence Voltage Injection in Stacked Multicell Converter

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2021
This article introduces a capacitor-voltage-balancing method based on optimal zero-sequence voltage injection in a stacked multicell converter (SMC). The proposed method is implemented using hybrid carrier pulsewidth modulation and is capable of balancing and regulating the voltages of dc-link capacitors and floating capacitors in the topology.

Zero sequence voltage suppression control with capacitor voltage balancing for a modular multilevel matrix converter

2015 17th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'15 ECCE-Europe), 2015
Zero sequence voltage suppression control for a modular multilevel matrix converter is investigated, which is required for applications to power systems and high power motor drives. The schemes of power flow control and capacitor voltage balancing control with voltage space vector modulation have been proposed.
