Asymptotics of the Sum of a Sine Series with a Convex Slowly Varying Sequence of Coefficients
We study the asymptotic behavior in a neighborhood of zero of the sum of a sine series g(b,x)=∑k=1∞bksinkx whose coefficients constitute a convex slowly varying sequence b.

Fuzzy C means Based Evaluation Algorithms For Cancer Gene Expression Data Clustering
The influx of data in bioinformatics is primarily in the form of DNA, RNA, and protein sequences. This condition places a significant burden on scientists and computers.

A Distinguished Subgroup of Compact Abelian Groups
Here “group” means additive abelian group. A compact group G contains δ–subgroups, that is, compact totally disconnected subgroups Δ such that G/Δ is a torus.

ON THE INDEX-CONJECTURE ON LENGTH FOUR MINIMAL ZERO-SUM SEQUENCES [PDF]
Let G be a finite cyclic group. Every sequence S over G can be written in the form S = (n1g)⋅…⋅(nlg) where g ∈ G and n1,…,nl ∈ [1, ord (g)], and the index ind (S) of S is defined to be the minimum of (n1 +⋯+ nl)/ ord (g) over all possible g ∈ G such that 〈g〉 = G.

Asymptotic arbitrage in fractional mixed markets
We consider a family of mixed processes given as the sum of a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H\in (3/4,1)$ and a multiple of an independent standard Brownian motion, the family being indexed by the scaling factor in front of the ...

Signal Fluctuations and the Information Transmission Rates in Binary Communication Channels
In the nervous system, information is conveyed by sequence of action potentials, called spikes-trains. As MacKay and McCulloch suggested, spike-trains can be represented as bits sequences coming from Information Sources (IS).

On Subsequence Sums of a Zero-sum Free Sequence [PDF]
Let $G$ be a finite abelian group with exponent $m$, and let $S$ be a sequence of elements in $G$. Let $f(S)$ denote the number of elements in $G$ which can be expressed as the sum over a nonempty subsequence of $S$. In this paper, we show that, if $|S|=m$ and $S$ contains no nonempty subsequence with zero sum, then $f(S)\geq 2m-1$.
