Microstructural characterization of creep anisotropy at 673K in the M5® alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Zirconium alloy tubing is used in pressurized water nuclear reactors in order to prevent fissile material from leaking into the coolant. It can be the first safety wall of nuclear fuel, and is submitted to complex thermomechanical loadings.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Method of forming dynamic membrane on stainless steel support [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
A suitable member formed from sintered, powdered, stainless steel is contacted with a nitrate solution of a soluble alkali metal nitrate and a metal such as zirconium in a pH range and for a time sufficient to effect the formation of a membrane of ...

Dynamic interplay between defective UiO‐66 and protic solvents in activated processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
UiO-66, composed by Zr-oxide inorganic bricks [Zr-6(mu(3)-O)(4)(mu(3)-OH)(4)] and organic terephthalate linkers, is one of the most studied metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) due to its exceptional thermal, chemical, and mechanical stability.

High-emittance coatings on metal substrates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
High-emittance coatings of iron, calcium, and zirconium titanates thermally sprayed on stainless steel, columbium-1 percent zirconium, and beryllium substrates promote and control radiative heat transfer from the metal substrates.

Challenges during Flash Lamp Annealing of Aerosol‐Deposited Barium Titanate Films

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aerosol deposition is used to rapidly deposit barium titanate films with thicknesses ranging from 2 to 16 μm at room temperature, eliminating the need for further densification. However, to recover the electromechanical properties, annealing is required, which limits the usage of temperature‐sensitive substrates.

Mechanically Deposited Wear‐Resistant Amorphous Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mechanically deposited from glassy ribbons, the Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 amorphous coating formed a hard, continuous layer on AISI 1010 steel, tripling substrate hardness, lowering friction, and reducing wear. Despite its rough surface, it showed friction and wear behavior comparable to the crystalline alloy, highlighting its strong potential as a durable ...

Nickel base coating alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Zirconium is added to a Ni-30 Al (beta) intermetallic alloy in the range of 0.05 w/o to 0.25 w/o. This addition is made during melting or by using metal powders.
