Characterization of microbial community and resistance gene (CzcA) shifts in up-flow constructed wetlands-microbial fuel cell treating Zn (II) contaminated wastewater

open access: yes, 2020
The main aim of this work was to characterize the microbial community structure and resistance gene (CzcA) shifts in up-flow constructed wetlands-microbial fuel cell (CW-MFC) treating Zn (II) contaminated wastewater. Two CW-MFC devices were operated, i.e.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

New Polymer Inclusion Membrane in the Separation of Nonferrous Metal Ion from Aqueous Solutions

open access: yesMembranes, 2020
The new polymer inclusion membrane (PIM) with ethylenediamine-bis-acetylacetone (EDAB-acac) matrix was used for the separation of Zn(II) solutions containing non-ferrous metal ions (Co(II), Ni(II) Cu(II), Cd(II)).

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Spectrometric determination of hemin binding by Zn(II)Har and Zn(II)C97A.

open access: yes, 2014
Hemin (Hm, 1–2 µM) in TBS was incubated with Zn(II)Har and Zn(II)C97A at protein to hemin molar ratios of 0∶1 to 4∶1 for 1 h and solution spectra collected on a Cary 50 UV-visible spectrometer (Varian).

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Removal and recovery of Cu(II) and Zn(II) using immobilized Mentha arvensis distillation waste biomass

open access: yes, 2009
[[abstract]]The potential use of the immobilized Mentha arvensis distillation waste (IMADW) biomass for removal and recovery of Cu(II) and Zn(II) from aqueous was evaluated in the present study.

N,O Chelating Ligands Construct Five-Coordinated Zn(II) Exclusive {Zn6} Clusters: Decomposition, Stepwise Assembly and Photoluminescence Study

open access: yesCrystals, 2019
N-methylbenzimidazole-2-methanol (Hmbm) and Zn(NO3)2·6H2O were reacted in acetonitrile solvothermal at 80 °C for 48 h to obtain a six-nuclear Zn(II) cluster ([ZnII6(Hmbm)2(mbm)8(NO3)4]·12H2O·2CH3CN (Zn6)).

Synthesis and Characterization of Zn(II) and Cd(II) Complexes with Bisdithiophosphonates

open access: yesRussian Journal of Coordination Chemistry, 2005
2,4-Bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3,2,4-dithiodiphosphetane-2,4-disulfide (Lawesson’s reagent) reacts with stoichiometric equivalent of alkane diols HO(CH2)nOH (n=2, 3, and 5) to form bisdithiophosphonic acid. The obtained crude bisdithiophosphonic acids are treated with dry NH3 to give ammonium salts of bisdithiophosphonic acids.
