Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Zn(II)-Driven Impact of Monomeric Transthyretin on Amyloid-beta Amyloidogenesis

open access: yes
Extracellular accumulation of amyloid-beta (Abeta) peptides in the brain plays a significant role in the development of Alzheimer\u27s disease (AD). While the co-localization and interaction of proteins and metal ions with Abeta in extracellular milieu ...

C-Branched chiral (racemic) macrocyclic amino acids: Structure of their Ni(ii), Zn(ii) and Cu(ii) complexes

open access: yes, 2011
A new procedure for the synthesis of macrocyclic embedded bis-α-amino acids and their use as cation-ligands is described. These compounds are able to form stable Cu(ii), Zn(ii) and Ni(ii) complexes as long as they have a flexible tether between the two ...

Microbial lead(II) precipitation : the influence of aqueous Zn(II) and Cu(II) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The current study focused on the impact of heavy metals Zn(II) and Cu(II), regularly found in conjunction with lead in industrially polluted areas, on the Pb(II) bioprecipitation capabilities and metabolic activity of an industrially isolated microbial

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Synthesis and characterization of zinc(II), palladium(II) and platinum(II) complex with 2’-[1-(2-pyridinyl)ethylidene] oxamohydrazide. The crystal structure of bis{2’-[1-(2-pyridinyl)ethylidene]oxamohydrazido}zinc(II) trihydrate [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2004
Complexes of Zn(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II) with 2’-[1-(2-pyridinyl)ethylidene]oxamohydrazide (Hapsox) were synthesized and their structures were determined.
