KCNK16 Deficiency Deteriorates Body Growth and Diet‐Independently Decreases Lipid Accumulation in Mice

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 3, June 2026.
Loss of KCNK16 in mice alters β‐cell insulin secretion dynamics leading to increased pancreatic insulin content and decreased circulating IGF‐1. Furthermore, body growth and adiposity were reduced independent of dietary interventions. Despite these changes, overall glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity remain largely preserved.

Macrophage‐Specific Loss of Stearoyl‐CoA Desaturase 1 Promotes Colon Cancer by Enhancing M2 TAM Polarization

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 117, Issue 6, Page 1566-1579, June 2026.
Macrophage‐specific Scd1 deletion accelerates colon cancer progression by suppressing the Hippo‐YAP pathway, which drives immunosuppressive M2 polarization and induces CD8+ T cell exhaustion. Pharmacological YAP activation with TT‐10 effectively reverses this microenvironment, highlighting a promising target for immunotherapy. ABSTRACT In colon cancer (

Ligand‐specific tuning of CLEC10A signalling strength and dendritic cell responses through engagement of different GalNAc‐containing glycan structures

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 11, Page 3187-3210, June 2026.
The authors investigated the effects of various glycan ligands for CLEC10A, a lectin receptor expressed on dendritic cells (DCs). Monocyte‐derived DCs were stimulated with glycan‐conjugated dendrimers in combination with the TLR1/2 ligand Pam3CysK4, and responses were investigated at the mRNA and protein level.

Innovation and zombie firms: Empirical evidence from Italy

open access: yesResearch Policy
Zombie firms are businesses that cannot repay debt from current profits over an extended period and yet continue to operate and avoid failure. This article specifically investigates whether and under what circumstances the presence of zombies in an industry constitutes a barrier to the innovativeness of non-zombies in the same sector. Conceptually, non-
