Inhibition of peripheral CB1 receptors modulates food intake and metabolic efficiency in obesity independently of the gut–brain vagal axis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 16, Page 4953-4968, August 2026.
Background and Purpose Obesity involves profound disruptions in neuronal circuits, neuroendocrine communication and the endocannabinoid system. While global blockade of cannabinoid CB1 receptors improves metabolism, its clinical use is limited by neuropsychiatric side effects.

Structured machine learning modeling to support conservation of deep‐sea benthic biodiversity

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Biodiversity monitoring programs need to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable predictions. To establish a predictive monitoring program for deep‐sea benthos of the Santos Basin, Brazil, we developed a two‐stage structured model that allowed comparison of biodiversity predictions obtained from environmental simulations (2M‐Sim).

Hypervolume Trait Spaces Reveal Similarities but Also Functional Differentiation Across Riparian, Roadside and Field Margin Habitats

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To characterize plant species pools and functional diversity of three common linear habitats—riparian corridors, roadsides and field margins—and to evaluate their potential roles in regional biodiversity conservation, particularly regarding invasive and threatened species.

Phenotypic Behavioural Effects of Genetic Deletion of the Vesicular Glutamate Transporter 3 in 5‐Hydroxytryptamine Neurons

open access: yesGenes, Brain and Behavior, Volume 25, Issue 4, August 2026.
VGLUT3 in 5‐HT neurons is involved in some aspects of learning, here in association with learning for reward, although not anxiety‐like behaviour. ABSTRACT A major subpopulation of 5‐hydroxytryptamine (5‐HT) neurons expresses the vesicular glutamate transporter 3 (VGLUT3) allowing the co‐release of glutamate.

Aedes albopictus and Dengue Transmission Risk in France Over the 21st Century

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.
We assessed the impacts of climate change on the range expansion of Ae. albopictus and the risk of dengue transmission in France by 2085. Most of the French territory will be suitable to host this vector, while more than half of the territory will be suitable for dengue transmission.
