Porcine kidney xenotransplantation: From primate models to clinical reality

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
In the face of a critical shortage of human donor kidneys for end‐stage renal disease patients, porcine kidney xenotransplantation has emerged as a viable solution. This field has navigated major hurdles, including immune rejection, physiological incompatibilities, potential biomechanical differences and the risk of cross‐species infection. To overcome

Studies on the Giardiasis as the Zoonosis

open access: yesJournal of the Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases, 1990
To obtain basic data on the route of Giardia infection as zoonosis, we examined feces from 80 dogs and 16 cats for Giardia cysts and evaluated the detection rates. In addition, familial infection was studied in 3 family members of the patient with giardiasis. Giardia cysts were detected in 10 of the 80 dogs (12.5%) but none of the cats.

Dietary Baicalin Supplementation Can Enhance the Growth Performance of Weaned Piglets and Maintain the Intestinal Barrier Integrity

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This research innovatively illustrates baicalin’s multifaceted mechanisms in enhancing piglets’ intestinal health: modulating bile acid metabolism via probiotics, reinforcing tight junction proteins (ZO‐1/claudin), suppressing TLR4/NF‐κB‐mediated inflammation, whereas promoting growth and reducing diarrhea.
