CONDITIONS OF ILLUMINATION AND ZOOSPOROGENESIS IN KLEBSORMIDIUM FLACCIDUM1

Journal of Phycology, 1974
SUMMARYThe filamentous green alga Klebsormidium flaccidum will produce zoospores when cultured on a diurnal regime of 8‐hr light and 16‐hr dark. Zoosporogenesis is inhibited by interruption of the dark period with light of sufficient intensity and duration.

Behavior of nuclei during zoosporogenesis in Bryopsis plumosa (Bryopsidales, Chlorophyta)

Journal of Plant Research, 2005
The behavior of nuclei during zoosporogenesis in Bryopsis plumosa (Bryopsidales, Chlorophyta) was examined by fluorescence and electron microscopy. Each mature filamentous sporophyte had a single lenticular nucleus, which was about 25 microm in diameter and embedded in a thick cytoplasmic layer. At the commencement of multinucleation, giant nuclei with

An ultrastructural study of zoosporogenesis inPythium proliferum de Bary

Protoplasma, 1976
Zoosporogenesis in the oomycete,Pythium proliferum de Bary initially involves a condensation of cytoplasm at certain hyphal tips and the subsequent enlargement of these hyphal tips to form sporangia. Deposition of a septum at the base of the sporangium and initiation of an apical papilla are followed by cleavage of the sporangial cytoplasm.

Formation of Gamma Particles During Zoosporogenesis inBlastocladiella Emersonii

Mycologia, 1975
The formation of gamma (γ) particles was examined by electron microscopy of B. emersonii cells that were induced to differentiate zoospores after 15.5 hr (19-hr cycle) and 3 hr of growth (minicycle...

Zoosporogenesis in Pseudoperonospora cubensis, the causal agent of cucurbit downy mildew

Nordic Journal of Botany, 1989
During sporulation of Pseudoperonospora cubensis on cucumber leaves ( Cucumis saliva ) zoosporangia are formed on the dichotomously branched sporangiophore. The mature zoosporangium has a preformed discharge papilla and the cytoplasm is uncleaved.

Synthesis and assembly of flagellar surface antigens during zoosporogenesis inPhytophthora cinnamomi

Protoplasma, 1994
Cryomicrotomy and immunofluorescence microscopy employing three different categories of monoclonal antibody (MAb) that label antigens on the surface of one or both flagella ofPhytophthora dnnamomi have been used to follow the synthesis and assembly of flagellar surface components.

Electron microscopy of zoosporogenesis in the marine phycomycete, Lagenidium callinectes Couch

Archiv fr Mikrobiologie, 1973
1. Zoosporogenesis and zoospore structure of Lagenidium callinectes, parasitic on ova of the blue crab, Callinectes sapidus, are studied by electron microscopy. 2. The cytoplasmic thread connecting discharging cytoplasmic units appears as a simple constricted area of cytoplasm, containing much membranous material, and bound by only the ...

Ultrastructural Study of Zoosporogenesis in the Siphonous Green Alga Derbesia tenuissima (Chlorophyta)

Botanica Marina, 2003
Based on transmission electron microscopy observation, zoosporogenesis in the siphonous multinucleate green alga Derbesia tenuissima can be divided into five stages. In vegetative sporophytes and Stage 1 sporangia, the cytoplasm was distinguished as two regions, the inner region of chloroplasts and the outer region of nuclei.

The Morphology of Lagenidium Callinectes II. Zoosporogenesis

Mycologia, 1974
Zoosporogenesis in the holocarpic marine phycomycete Lagenidium callinectes is initiated when actively growing mycelium is washed free of medium and placed in sea water.
