Eminent Antimicrobial Peptide Resistance in Zymomonas mobilis: A Novel Advantage of Intrinsically Uncoupled Energetics [PDF]

open access: yesAntibiotics
Relative to several model bacteria, the ethanologenic bacterium Zymomonas mobilis is shown here to have elevated resistance to exogenous antimicrobial peptides (AMPs)— with regard to both peptide bulk concentration in the medium and the numbers of ...

Influence of ultrasound on sorbitol release by Zymomonas mobilis grown on high sucrose concentration [PDF]

open access: diamondBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2006
This work investigated the effect of applying low intensity ultrasound on sorbitol release by Z.mobilis cultures grown on 200 g/L sucrose medium up to 48 h. The best sorbitol production was 36.09 g/L in 36 h culture.

The genetics of aerotolerant growth in an alphaproteobacterium with a naturally reduced genome

open access: yesmBio, 2023
Reduced genome bacteria are genetically simplified systems that facilitate biological study and industrial use. The free-living alphaproteobacterium Zymomonas mobilis has a naturally reduced genome containing fewer than 2,000 protein-coding genes ...

"Fish-in-net", a novel method for cell immobilization of Zymomonas mobilis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BACKGROUND: Inorganic mesoporous materials exhibit good biocompatibility and hydrothermal stability for cell immobilization. However, it is difficult to encapsulate living cells under mild conditions, and new strategies for cell immobilization are needed.

Expression Vector for Zymomonas mobilis [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1987
This study describes the construction of several useful cloning vectors which can be conjugated from Escherichia coli into Zymomonas mobilis at high frequency, approaching 10 −2 per donor or recipient.

Optimization of levan production by Zymomonas mobilis [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 1999
Effect of different fermentation conditions on levan production by Zymomonas mobilis B-4286 was studied. Levan production increased from 5.7-g/l to 12.6-g/l with an increase in initial sucrose concentration (50-150 g/l). Above 15% (20 and 25%) sucrose concentration, there was no increase in the biomass.

Evaluation of Ethanol Production from Tannin-Reduced Carob Pod Extracts by Zymamonas Mobilis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Renewable Energy and Environment, 2014
Regarding some reported antimicrobial properties of tannins; Zymomonas mobilis was used to obtain ethanol from tannin-reduced carob pod extract (TR-CPE). Culture of 50 mL volume containing 7.5 g sugar at pH 5.5 and 0.03 g bacterial inoculums with shaking
