Phenotype MicroArray Profiling of Zymomonas mobilis ZM4 [PDF]

open access: hybridApplied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2009
In this study, we developed a Phenotype MicroArray (PM) protocol to profile cellular phenotypes in Zymomonas mobilis, which included a standard set of nearly 2,000 assays for carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur source utilization, nutrient stimulation, pH and osmotic stresses, and chemical sensitivities with 240 inhibitory chemicals.

R-Plasmid Transfer in Zymomonas mobilis [PDF]

open access: bronzeApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1980
Conjugal transfer of three IncP1 plasmids and one IncFII plasmid into strains of the ethanol-producing bacterium Zymomonas mobilis was obtained. These plasmids were transferred at high frequencies from Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa into Z ...

The genetics of aerotolerant growth in an alphaproteobacterium with a naturally reduced genome

open access: yesmBio, 2023
Reduced genome bacteria are genetically simplified systems that facilitate biological study and industrial use. The free-living alphaproteobacterium Zymomonas mobilis has a naturally reduced genome containing fewer than 2,000 protein-coding genes ...

Expression Vector for Zymomonas mobilis [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1987
This study describes the construction of several useful cloning vectors which can be conjugated from Escherichia coli into Zymomonas mobilis at high frequency, approaching 10 −2 per donor or recipient.

Simultaneous saccharification/fermentation with zymomonas mobilis [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, 1986
In recent years, an ethanol production process has been developed which utilizes Trichoderma reesei cellulase and Candida brassicae IFO 1664 in the simultaneous saccharification/fermentation (SSF) of cellulose to ethanol. The direct production of ethanol from cellulose in an SSF process alleviates the problem of end production inhibition.

Production of Acetaldehyde by Zymomonas mobilis [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1987
Mutants of Zymomonas mobilis were selected for decreased alcohol dehydrogenase activity by using consecutively higher concentrations of allyl alcohol. A mutant selected by using 100 mM allyl alcohol produced acetaldehyde at a level of 4.08 g/liter when the organism was grown in aerated batch cultures on a medium ...

Genome-Scale Transcription-Translation Mapping Reveals Features of Zymomonas mobilis Transcription Units and Promoters

open access: yesmSystems, 2020
Zymomonas mobilis is an ethanologenic alphaproteobacterium with promise for the industrial conversion of renewable plant biomass into fuels and chemical bioproducts. Limited functional annotation of the Z.
